NORTHEAST THROUGH DOWNTOWN CENTER POINT, DAMAGING OR
DESTROYING NUMEROUS HOMES AND BUSINESSES. IT CONTINUED
ALONG OLD SPRINGVILLE ROAD TOWARD CLAY REACHING ITS
MAXIMUM STRENGTH AS IT NEARED DEERFOOT PARKWAY. SEVERAL
HUNDRED HOMES WERE DESTROYED OR DAMAGED. THE TORNADO
WEAKENED AS IT CROSSED INTO ST CLAIR COUNTY AND LIFTED
NEAR HIDDEN VALLEY DRIVE. MAX PATH WIDTH WAS 800 YDS.
PATH LENGTH WAS 15.5 MILES.

AND MOVED NORTHEAST ACROSS THE TALLADEGA NATIONAL FOREST,
DESTROYING A CHURCH BEFORE MOVING INTO CHILTON COUNTY. AS
THE TORNADO TRACKED NEAR MAPLESVILLE, SEVERAL DOZEN HOMES
AND BUSINESSES WERE DAMAGED. THE TORNADO KNOCKED DOWN A
RADIO TOWER EAST OF MAPLESVILLE. IT TOOK A TURN TO THE
LEFT AND TRACKED SOUTH OF LOMAX, DAMAGING SEVERAL HOMES.
EXTENSIVE TREE DAMAGE WAS FOUND ALONG THE ENTIRE PATH.
PATH LENGTH WAS 39.5 MILES. MAX PATH WIDTH WAS 880 YDS.
