THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

NORTHWEST MINNESOTA
NORTHEAST INTO EAST CENTRAL NORTH DAKOTA

EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON FROM 530 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF
HALLOCK MINNESOTA TO 40 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF FARGO NORTH

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...CAP CONTINUES TO WEAKEN INVOF SURFACE LOW NEAR DVL
EARLY THIS EVENING...WHERE AIR MASS IS MODERATELY UNSTABLE AND
STRONGLY SHEARED. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM DURING THE
NEXT HOUR OR SO NEAR THE LOW CENTER AND SURFACE FRONT EXTENDING INTO
CENTRAL ND. STORMS SHOULD FORM AS SUPERCELLS WITH ATTENDANT
ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT AS THEY MOVE EWD BEFORE EVOLVING INTO A
CLUSTER/MCS LATER THIS EVENING. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS ARE
ALSO EXPECTED.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 24025.
