VALID 062005Z - 062130Z

CORRECTED FOR WATCH TYPE

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 103 CONTINUES.

AN ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT AND HAIL POTENTIAL WILL CONTINUE ACROSS
WW 103 OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. NEW WW ISSUANCE IS NOT ANTICIPATED
ATTM.

LATEST SFC ANALYSIS SHOWS A SHALLOW COLD FRONT ADVANCING SLOWLY SWD
ACROSS THE TX COASTAL PLAIN. INSTABILITY HAS CONTINUED TO INCREASE
EARLY THIS AFTERNOON ALONG THE SOUTHEASTERN EDGE OF THE BOUNDARY AND
SBCAPE VALUES NOW RANGE FROM 1000 TO 1500 J/KG FROM THE HOUSTON AREA
SWWD ACROSS MOST OF THE TX COASTAL PLAIN. A LINE OF STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS LOCATED ALONG THE COLD FRONT NEAR VICTORIA WILL
CONTINUE TO MOVE EWD AND SHOULD POSE A SEVERE THREAT INTO THE
IMMEDIATE COASTAL AREAS LATE THIS AFTERNOON. STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE
RATES AND COLD AIR ALOFT WILL SUPPORT HAIL WITH THE STRONGER CORES.
LOW-LEVEL SHEAR ON WSR-88D VWPS SHOULD ALSO BE STRONG ENOUGH FOR AN
ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT WITH ROTATING STORMS. THE GREATEST TORNADO
THREAT APPEARS TO BE NEAR CORPUS CHRISTI WHERE MOISTURE EXISTS
THROUGH A DEEPER LAYER AND STORMS ARE MORE DISCRETE IN NATURE.

VALID 062000Z - 062130Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 103
CONTINUES.

SWODY1
SPC AC 061958

DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0158 PM CST THU MAR 06 2008

VALID 062000Z - 071200Z

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS PARTS OF SRN/SERN TX TO THE
NWRN GULF COAST...

..PARTS OF SRN/SERN TX TO THE NWRN GULF COAST...
UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO EVOLVE ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.S. AS A
NRN STREAM TROUGH MOVES SWD INTO THE NRN PLAINS/UPPER MS VALLEY AND
SRN STREAM TROUGH TRACKS EWD TO E TX BY 12Z FRIDAY. EARLY AFTERNOON
SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWED A COLD FRONT EXTENDING FROM CENTRAL AR SWWD
THROUGH NERN TO SOUTH CENTRAL TX WHERE A SURFACE LOW WAS LOCATED AT
40 ENE LRD. MEANWHILE...A WARM FRONT EXTENDED ESEWD FROM THIS LOW
TO NEAR CRP AND THEN OFFSHORE INTO THE CENTRAL GULF. AS THE SRN
STREAM TROUGH APPROACHES FROM THE WEST...THE SURFACE LOW/WARM FRONT
WILL DEVELOP NEWD ALONG THE MID/UPPER TX COAST BY LATE THIS
AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. THE LOW SHOULD REACH JUST INLAND OF THE MS
DELTA/NORTH CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION BY 12Z FRIDAY WITH THE WARM
FRONT EXTENDING EWD INTO THE FL PANHANDLE.

ONGOING CLUSTERS OF TSTMS EARLY THIS AFTERNOON OVER CENTRAL/S TX
APPEAR TO BE TIED TO SUB-TROPICAL MID LEVEL IMPULSE NOW ENTERING S
TX. ASCENT WITH THIS FEATURE WILL SUPPORT ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT
TOWARD THE TX COAST WITH INCREASING WAA RESULTING IN TSTM
DEVELOPMENT INTO THE CENTRAL GULF COAST TONIGHT.

MODERATE INSTABILITY WITHIN THE SMALL WARM SECTOR COMBINED WITH
EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR AROUND 40 KT AND MODEST LOW LEVEL VEERING
SUPPORT A CONTINUED POTENTIAL FOR SUPERCELLS AND TORNADOES AS THE
SURFACE LOW/WARM FRONT SPREAD NEWD ALONG THE MIDDLE/UPPER TX COAST.
STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES NORTH OF THE WARM FRONT AND COLD FRONT
COMBINED WITH CLOUD LAYER SHEAR WILL SUPPORT ADDITIONAL ELEVATED
ROTATING TSTMS WITH AN ATTENDANT HAIL THREAT FROM PARTS OF CENTRAL
TX TO THE TX COAST AS THE COLD FRONT ADVANCES ESEWD.

THE SURFACE LOW DEEPENS OVERNIGHT AND MOVES INLAND TO LWR MS VALLEY
BY 12Z FRI. LATER TONIGHT...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE GREATER
THETAE AIR NOW ADVECTING N TOWARD THE NRN GULF TO REACH CENTRAL GULF
COASTAL AREAS. THIS WOULD RESULT IN A THREAT FOR SURFACE BASED
SUPERCELLS AS FAR E AS FL PANHANDLE AS WIND PROFILES WILL BE VERY
FAVORABLE WITH LLJ INCREASING TO 50-60KT. ALTHOUGH GREATEST THREAT
MAY REMAIN JUST OFFSHORE...THIS OUTLOOK HAS EXTENDED THE SLIGHT RISK
A LITTLE FARTHER EWD THROUGH SRN LA...WITH FURTHER UPGRADE POSSIBLE
EWD IN LATER FORECASTS.

..FL PENINSULA...
AT 19Z...THE ERN EXTENT OF A WARM FRONT OVER THE CENTRAL GULF OF
MEXICO EXTENDED THROUGH SRN FL FROM N OF FMY TO 35 N PBI. AIR MASS
S OF THE WARM FRONT IS MOIST WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS IN THE UPPER 60S
TO 70 CONTRIBUTING TO MODERATE INSTABILITY. THIS WILL CONTINUE TO
SUPPORT TSTM DEVELOPMENT ACROSS S FL AS THE WARM FRONT RETREATS NWD
AND ALONG THE EAST COAST SEA BREEZE. DESPITE THE MODERATE
INSTABILITY...WEAK DEEP LAYER SHEAR IS EXPECTED TO PRECLUDE A
GREATER SEVERE WEATHER THREAT. HOWEVER...A FEW STRONGER STORMS MAY
PRODUCE ISOLATED STRONG WIND GUSTS AND/OR HAIL THROUGH THE REST OF
THE AFTERNOON.

FARTHER N...A LARGE CLUSTER OF TSTMS OVER THE NERN GULF OF MEXICO...
APPARENTLY TIED TO A MID LEVEL IMPULSE...WILL SPREAD ACROSS NRN FL
THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. WEAK INSTABILITY/SHEAR SHOULD PRECLUDE
A SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WITH THIS ACTIVITY.

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1124 AM CST THU MAR 06 2008

VALID 071200Z - 081200Z

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM PARTS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL
GULF COAST TO THE SERN AND MID ATLANTIC STATES...

..SYNOPSIS...
LATEST DETERMINISTIC MODELS AND SREF MEAN REMAIN IN GENERAL
AGREEMENT SHOWING THE PHASING OF NRN AND SRN STREAM SHORT WAVE
TROUGHS ACROSS THE LOWER MS VALLEY/CENTRAL GULF COAST STATES BY 12Z
SATURDAY. THESE TROUGHS ARE CURRENTLY LOCATED OVER CENTRAL CANADA
AND NM/W TX. MEANWHILE...A COUPLE OF SUB-TROPICAL IMPULSES NOW
MOVING EWD THROUGH MEXICO SHOULD ACCELERATE NEWD THROUGH THE SERN/
MID ATLANTIC STATES FRIDAY MORNING/AFTERNOON AS FLOW ALOFT
STRENGTHENS AHEAD OF PHASING SYSTEMS.

IN THE LOWER LEVELS...A SURFACE LOW SHOULD BE LOCATED NEAR OR JUST
INLAND OF THE MS DELTA/NORTH CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION AT 12Z
FRIDAY. THIS LOW IS FORECAST TO TRACK NEWD INTO THE SRN
APPALACHIANS/NRN GA BY EARLY FRIDAY EVENING /08/00Z/...AND SHOULD
REACH THE CENTRAL APPALACHIANS/WRN VA AREA BY 12Z SATURDAY. THE
ATTENDANT WARM FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE NWD FRIDAY AND SHOULD
EXTEND NEWD FROM THE NRN GA SURFACE LOW THROUGH WRN SC/NC TO THE
DELMARVA REGION BY 08/00Z. COLD FRONT TRAILING SWD FROM SURFACE LOW
IS EXPECTED TO ACCELERATE EWD FRIDAY EVENING/OVERNIGHT THROUGH MUCH
OF THE SERN STATES REACHING CENTRAL SC TO SRN FL BY 12Z SATURDAY.

..NORTH CENTRAL GULF COAST TO SERN AND MID ATLANTIC STATES...
AT 12Z FRIDAY...A FEW STRONG TO SEVERE TSTMS MAY BE ONGOING IN THE
VICINITY OF THE SURFACE LOW AND EWD INTO THE FL PANHANDLE ALONG THE
WARM FRONT GIVEN HIGHER THETAE AIR SPREADING NWD ALONG STRONG LLJ
AXIS. THE SEVERE THREAT WILL LIKELY SPREAD EWD INTO SERN/MID
ATLANTIC STATES THIS FORECAST PERIOD.

STRENGTHENING SLY WINDS ACROSS THE ERN U.S. AHEAD OF PHASING TROUGHS
WILL ALLOW FOR NWD MOISTURE RETURN WITHIN WARM SECTOR FROM THE NERN
GULF AND ATLANTIC WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER 60S REACHING
ERN NC/SERN VA BY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND MIDDLE 60S INTO ERN SC/
SERN GA. CLOUDS/PRECIPITATION WITH EMBEDDED TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO
SPREAD NWD WITH THE WARM FRONT GIVEN STRONG WAA. THIS COMBINED WITH
GENERALLY WEAK MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES SHOULD RESULT IN WEAK
INSTABILITY ACROSS THE SLIGHT RISK AREA. ASCENT ATTENDANT TO
SUB-TROPICAL IMPULSES ARE EXPECTED TO AID IN TSTM DEVELOPMENT WITHIN
THE WARM SECTOR FROM FL NWD TO SC/ERN NC BY FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
DESPITE THE TYPICAL COOL SEASON TENDENCY FOR WEAKER INSTABILITY...
STRONG SSWLY WIND FIELDS DEVELOPING ACROSS A MOISTENING WARM SECTOR
SHOULD COMPENSATE AND SUPPORT ORGANIZED TSTMS. EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR
AND STRONG LOW LEVEL SPEED SHEAR /SFC-1 KM SRH 200-400 M2/S2/ WILL
BE SUPPORTIVE OF SUPERCELLS AND AN ATTENDANT TORNADO AND DAMAGING
WIND THREAT. THIS SEVERE WEATHER THREAT SHOULD PERSIST SOME FRIDAY
NIGHT AS THE SURFACE LOW TRACKS NNEWD AND THE UPPER TROUGHS PHASE
OVER LOWER MS VALLEY/CENTRAL GULF COAST.

AN ADDITIONAL DAMAGING WIND THREAT STILL APPEARS POSSIBLE ACROSS
PARTS OF ERN AL INTO GA AND MUCH OF FL FRIDAY NIGHT AS A SQUALL LINE
ACCELERATES EWD ALONG THE PROGRESSIVE COLD FRONT.

DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1010 AM CST THU MAR 06 2008

VALID 061630Z - 071200Z

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS OVER PARTS OF SRN AND ERN TX
AND FAR SW LA...

LARGE TROUGH CONTINUES TO EVOLVE OVER THE CENTRAL U.S. AS A STRONG
S/WV TROUGH NOW ENTERING SRN HIGH PLAINS MOVES EWD ACROSS TX.

FRONTAL ZONE TRAILS WWD ACROSS FL PENINSULA TO CENTRAL GULF AND IS
BEGINNING TO RETURN NWD AS A WARM FRONT. VERY MOIST AIR MASS S OF
FRONT OVER GULF WHILE FURTHER W A MORE MODIFIED MOISTURE RETURN IS
OCCURRING OVER NWRN GULF INTO TX AHEAD OF STRONG UPPER TROUGH AND
DEVELOPING SURFACE WAVE S TX.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE CURRENTLY DEVELOPING CENTRAL TX ABOVE THE
INITIALLY SHALLOW COLD FRONT NOW PUSHING SWD. COLD FRONT EXTENDED
FROM NERN TX THEN SWWD TO S OF SAT. WITH THE OBSERVED AND MODEL
FORECASTED FAIRLY STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES TO N OF COLD FRONT
THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD INCREASE BOTH IN NUMBER AND INTENSITY THRU THE
AFTERNOON WITH POTENTIAL FOR HAIL GIVEN THE COOL LAPSE RATES AND
MLCAPE POTENTIALLY TO 500 J/KG. REF MCD 359

AS THE LOW LEVEL JET INCREASES AHEAD OF THE STRONG UPPER TROUGH AND
DEVELOPING SURFACE WAVE THAT WILL BE MOVING NEWD VICINITY TX
COAST...THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD BECOME MORE LIKELY NEARER THE MID/UPR
TX COAST THIS AFTERNOON. WHILE STILL SOMEWHAT ELEVATED THE
COMBINATION OF STRONG VEERING SHEAR PROFILES AND LARGE SCALE ASCENT
WILL CREATE A FAVORABLE SUPERCELL ENVIRONMENT. BY MID/LATE
AFTERNOON THERE WILL BE A CONCERN FOR A FEW SEVERE STORMS NEAR AND
JUST INLAND FROM THE TX COAST. PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE LOCAL
DAMAGING WINDS AND MARGINALLY SEVERE HAIL...BUT IF SURFACE BASED
STORMS ARE ABLE TO FORM...THEN SUPERCELLS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE
POSSIBLE.

THE SURFACE LOW DEEPENS OVERNIGHT AND MOVES INLAND TO LWR MS VALLEY
BY 12Z FRI. LATER TONIGHT...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE GREATER
THETAE AIR NOW OVER CENTRAL GULF TO REACH CENTRAL GULF COASTAL
AREAS. THIS WOULD RESULT IN A THREAT FOR SURFACE BASED SUPERCELLS
AS FAR E AS FL PANHANDLE AS WIND PROFILES WILL BE VERY FAVORABLE AS
LOW LEVEL JET INCREASES TO 50-60KT. ATTM EXPECT GREATEST THREAT TO
REMAIN JUST OFFSHORE...BUT THIS AREA MAY NEED TO BE UPGRADED IN
LATER FORECASTS.

AREAS AFFECTED...SCNTRL TX AND MIDDLE TX COAST

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 061559Z - 061700Z

AN ISOLATED HAIL THREAT WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ACROSS THE TX HILL
COUNTRY EXPANDING EWD INTO THE TX COASTAL PLAIN BY EARLY AFTERNOON.
THE THREAT SHOULD REMAIN MARGINAL ENOUGH THAT WW ISSUANCE WILL BE
UNLIKELY ACROSS THE REGION.

15Z SFC ANALYSIS HAS A COLD FRONT FROM NEAR THE HOUSTON AREA
EXTENDING WWD TO JUST SOUTH OF SAN ANTONIO WITH 60 + SFC DEWPOINTS
MAINLY SOUTH OF THE BOUNDARY. JUST NORTH OF THE BOUNDARY...FORECAST
SOUNDINGS SHOW ELEVATED INSTABILITY EXISTS ABOVE 850 MB AND MLCAPE
VALUES FROM RUC ANALYSIS GENERALLY RANGE FROM 250 TO 500 J/KG.
SHORT-TERM MODEL FORECASTS ARE IN AGREEMENT WITH INCREASING STORM
COVERAGE GRADUALLY THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON WITH THE CONVECTION
MOVING EWD TOWARD THE TX COASTAL PLAIN. THE ELEVATED
INSTABILITY...MODERATE VERTICAL SHEAR AND COOLING 500 MB MID-LEVEL
TEMPS OF -17 TO -18C SHOULD PROMOTE A THREAT FOR HAIL WITH THE
STRONGER CORES. THE HAIL THREAT WILL BE MOST LIKELY ALONG THE COLD
FRONT SOUTH AND EAST OF SAN ANTONIO WHERE LOCALLY GREATER
INSTABILITY EXISTS AND A FEW SFC-BASED THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP
THIS AFTERNOON.
