DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0741 PM CDT WED MAR 26 2008

VALID 270100Z - 271200Z

..NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

..MO/IL...

00Z SOUNDING FROM SGF SUGGESTS AIRMASS IS NOT PARTICULARLY UNSTABLE
ACROSS MO THIS EVENING AS MUCAPE IS ROUGHLY 500 J/KG. VEERED LLJ
AND DEEP SWLY TRAJECTORIES SUGGEST THIS INSTABILITY IS THE SOURCE
REGION FOR THE MCS THAT IS SPREADING/DECAYING EWD ACROSS IL/IND.
UPSTREAM...00Z SOUNDING FROM OUN IS CONSIDERABLY MORE UNSTABLE AND
IS ONLY WEAKLY INHIBITED AT 700MB. IT APPEARS STEEPER LAPSE RATE
PLUME/INSTABILITY WILL SPREAD BACK INTO MO LATER TONIGHT BUT THERE
IS REASON TO BELIEVE WEAK WARM ADVECTION ALONG/NORTH OF WARM FRONT
WILL STRUGGLE TO GENERATE SIGNIFICANT CONVECTION WHERE INSTABILITY
WOULD OTHERWISE SUPPORT MORE ROBUST POTENTIALLY SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS. THE MAJORITY OF CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY MAY ACTUALLY
PERSIST ACROSS ERN MO/SRN IL/SRN IND WHERE ELEVATED CAPE SHOULD BE
INADEQUATE TO JUSTIFY AN ORGANIZED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.
FOR THIS REASON WILL MAINTAIN LOW PROBABILITIES FOR LARGE HAIL
ACROSS THE MID MS VALLEY WITH THE GREATEST RISK OF STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO BE WITHIN THE GENERATION ZONE ACROSS MO
AGAIN LATER TONIGHT.

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0148 PM CDT WED MAR 26 2008

AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF CNTRL/SRN MO INTO ADJACENT PORTIONS OF SE
KS/NE OK/NW AR

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 261848Z - 262115Z

IT STILL SEEMS MORE PROBABLE THAN NOT THAT THE SEVERE THREAT WILL
NOT BECOME SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRE A WW ISSUANCE LATE THIS
AFTERNOON. BUT...TRENDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED.

STEEPER ISENTROPIC ASCENT ON THE NOSE OF THE ELEVATED MIXED LAYER
EMANATING FROM THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES/PLATEAU REGION CONTINUES TO
PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR ONGOING CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT ACROSS THE
MISSOURI OZARKS/LOWER MISSOURI VALLEY REGION. RECENT TIGHTENING OF
THE LOW/MID LEVEL THERMAL GRADIENT SOUTHEAST OF KANSAS CITY THROUGH
THE ROLLA/VICHY AREA HAS BECOME THE FOCUS FOR THE STRONGEST STORMS.
AND...THIS ACTIVITY PROBABLY WILL SPREAD ACROSS/EAST OF COLUMBIA
THROUGH THE ST. LOUIS AREA BETWEEN NOW AND 22-23Z.

MODEL GUIDANCE REMAINS A BIT UNCLEAR CONCERNING POTENTIAL FOR
REDEVELOPMENT TO THE SOUTH AND WEST. IT COULD BE THAT MID-LEVEL
WARMING BECOMES INHIBITIVE. HOWEVER...THE CONTINUED APPROACH OF THE
WEAK SOUTHERN STREAM PERTURBATION...AND THE STRENGTHENING OF THE
SOUTHERLY LOW-LEVEL JET INTO THE WARM FRONTAL ZONE SOUTH/WEST OF THE
JOPLIN/SPRINGFIELD AREAS...SEEM LIKELY TO CONTRIBUTE TO INCREASING
UPWARD VERTICAL MOTION LATE THIS AFTERNOON. AND...THIS MAY BECOME
SUFFICIENT FOR SURFACE BASED OR NEAR SURFACE BASED CONVECTIVE
DEVELOPMENT IN THE PRESENCE OF STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR AND LARGE
CLOCKWISE CURVED LOW-LEVEL HODOGRAPHS. WEAK MIXED LAYER/MOST
UNSTABLE CAPE ON THE ORDER OF 500 J/KG WILL PROBABLY BE A LIMITING
FACTOR...BUT AN ISOLATED SUPERCELL OR TWO IS POSSIBLE AS EARLY AS
22Z.

PLAINS SHIFTS EWD...FRONT SHOULD OTHERWISE REMAIN QUASI-STATIONARY
WITH LITTLE IMPETUS FOR AN APPRECIABLE SHIFT N OR S.

..NERN OK/SERN KS ACROSS OZARKS INTO THE LOWER OH VALLEY...
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY BE ONGOING AT THE START OF THE
PERIOD N OF THE SURFACE FRONT FROM PARTS OF SRN MO EWD INTO THE OH
VALLEY...WITHIN ZONE OF WARM ADVECTION/ISENTROPIC LIFT ASSOCIATED
WITH LOW-LEVEL JET.

MODELS SUGGEST THAT CONVECTIVE COVERAGE SHOULD DECREASE DURING THE
DAY...FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER INCREASE DURING THE EVENING/OVERNIGHT
HOURS. ATTM...IT APPEARS THAT THE WARM SECTOR S OF THE FRONT/E OF
AN OK DRYLINE SHOULD REMAIN CAPPED -- THUS PROHIBITING
DAYTIME/SURFACE-BASED STORMS. BEST SEVERE POTENTIAL APPEARS TO
EXIST FROM N CENTRAL OK/SERN KS ENEWD INTO THE LOWER OH VALLEY...IN
A CORRIDOR NEAR AND JUST N OF THE FRONT. IN THIS REGION...AMPLE
ELEVATED INSTABILITY AND MODEST SHEAR SHOULD ALLOW A FEW STRONGER
STORMS TO PRODUCE HAIL NEAR -- OR JUST ABOVE -- SEVERE THRESHOLDS.

..NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

..OZARKS INTO OH RIVER VALLEY...
BROAD ZONAL FLOW ALOFT WILL PERSIST THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THIS
REGION AHEAD OF FAST MOVING TROUGH NOW MOVING ONTO THE WEST COAST.
IN ADVANCE OF THIS SYSTEM...SWLY LLJ EXTENDING ACROSS ERN OK/WRN AR
THIS MORNING WILL STRENGTHEN AND EXPAND NEWD ACROSS THE OH RIVER
VALLEY THROUGH THE PERIOD. AT THE SURFACE...LOW CENTER OVER WRN OK
AT 16Z IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN PLACE OR SHIFT SLOWLY EWD INTO
CENTRAL OK WHILE WARM FRONT LIFTS SLOWLY NWD ACROSS SRN MO AND THE
OH RIVER VALLEY.

STRENGTHENING ASCENT ALONG NOSE OF INCREASING LLJ WILL
ENHANCE/SPREAD ONGOING ELEVATED THUNDERSTORM CLUSTER OVER SRN MO
ENEWD THROUGH THE PERIOD. ELEVATED MOIST CONVECTION WILL BECOME
WIDESPREAD BY LATER TODAY FROM THE MID MS/LOWER OH RIVER VALLEY
ENEWD...DESPITE MEAGER FEED OF LOW LEVEL MOISTURE. THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BECOME LESS LIKELY AS ACTIVITY SPREADS UP THE OH RIVER VALLEY
AND CELLS BECOME MORE REMOVED FROM PLUME OF MODIFIED GULF MOISTURE
RETURN AND ELEVATED-MIXED LAYER PERSISTING OVER THE ERN HALF OF THE
SRN PLAINS. HOWEVER ALONG SWRN FLANK OF THIS EXPANDING AREA OF
ELEVATED MOIST CONVECTION...INCREASE IN HEATING/LOW LEVEL MOISTURE
SHOULD PROMOTE MORE ROBUST CONVECTION THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING AS
SURFACE DEW POINTS INCREASE INTO MID/UPPER 50S ACROSS THE OZARK
PLATEAU. TRAINING/BACK-BUILDING WILL BE FAVORED FROM SRN MO ACROSS
SRN IL/IND/WRN KY. MUCAPE NEAR 1000 J/KG OVER THE OZARKS TO A FEW
HUNDREDS J/KG INTO THE OH RIVER VALLEY...ALONG WITH SUFFICIENT CLOUD
LAYER SHEAR FOR ROTATING UPDRAFTS...SHOULD SUPPORT A FEW STORMS
CAPABLE OF MARGINALLY SEVERE HAIL THROUGH THE PERIOD.

APPEARS...EML WILL REMAIN TOO STRONG FOR DEVELOPMENT VERY FAR INTO

NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1004 AM CDT WED MAR 26 2008

AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF CNTRL/SRN MO

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 261504Z - 261700Z

STORMS WILL LIKELY PERSIST AND MAY INCREASE IN COVERAGE ACROSS PARTS
OF CENTRAL/SOUTHERN MISSOURI THROUGH 18-20Z. SEVERE POTENTIAL
APPEARS LOW...BUT TRENDS WILL BE MONITORED.

BENEATH A GENERALLY ZONAL UPPER FLOW...A RATHER WARM ELEVATED MIXED
LAYER HAS ADVECTED EAST OF THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES/MEXICAN PLATEAU
THROUGH MUCH OF THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. THIS AIR MASS EXTENDS AS FAR
NORTH/EAST AS THE MISSOURI OZARKS...WHERE STEEPER LOWER/MID
TROPOSPHERIC ISENTROPIC ASCENT IS FOCUSED...AND WEAKER INHIBITION IS
ALLOWING LIFTED PARCELS TO REACH THEIR LEVELS OF FREE CONVECTION.

LOW-LEVEL GULF MOISTURE RETURN...RELATIVE TO WARMTH ALOFT...IS STILL
LIMITED. AND...GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT THIS IS RESTRICTING MOST
UNSTABLE CAPE TO VALUES AT OR BELOW 500 J/KG. SOME INCREASE IN
MID/UPPER FORCING FOR UPWARD VERTICAL MOTION...ASSOCIATED WITH THE
APPROACH OF A LOW AMPLITUDE IMPULSE WITHIN THE SOUTHERN STREAM...NOW
SHIFTING THROUGH THE TEXAS/OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE REGION...COULD
CONTRIBUTE TO A FURTHER INCREASE IN CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT.
BUT...WITH LITTLE ADDITIONAL SIGNIFICANT DESTABILIZATION
EXPECTED...UNTIL PERHAPS INHIBITION WEAKENS FOR BOUNDARY LAYER
PARCELS IN CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THE SURFACE WARM FRONT ACROSS
SOUTHERN MISSOURI AFTER 20-21Z...SEVERE POTENTIAL IS EXPECTED TO
REMAIN LOW. HOWEVER...WEAK TO MODERATE CLOUD BEARING LAYER SHEAR
COULD SUPPORT A FEW STRONG STORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING HAIL
NEAR...OR POSSIBLY BRIEFLY IN EXCESS OF...SEVERE LIMITS.

DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0748 AM CDT WED MAR 26 2008

VALID 261300Z - 271200Z

..NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

..SYNOPSIS...
ZONAL FLOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE LWR 48...WITH DOMINATE NRN
STREAM JET EXTENDING DOWNSTREAM ACROSS THE NRN TIER FROM ELONGATED
GULF OF AK CLOSED LOW. POTENT SHORTWAVE IMPULSE NOW NEARING 127W
WILL SWEEP E INTO ORE LATER TODAY...AND CONTINUE E INTO ERN ID BY
12Z THURSDAY. IN THE WEAKER SRN STREAM...A DISTURBANCE NOW OVER THE
GRT BASIN SHOULD REACH THE CNTRL PLNS THIS EVENING AND WEAKEN AS IT
ENCOUNTERS SLIGHTLY CONFLUENT FLOW OVER THE MID MS/LWR OH VLY EARLY
THURSDAY.

..SRN/CNTRL PLNS...
WLY FLOW ALOFT WILL MAINTAIN LEE TROUGH/SWLY LLJ OVER THE SRN/CNTRL
PLNS TODAY...ALLOWING MOISTURE TO CONTINUE SPREADING NWD THROUGH THE
S CNTRL U.S. MODERATE INSTABILITY WILL DEVELOP ALONG THE MOIST AXIS
AS HEATING OCCURS THROUGH THE DAY. BUT EML ASSOCIATED WITH WLY FLOW
ALOFT LIKELY WILL KEEP REGION CAPPED TO DEEP CONVECTION...ESPECIALLY
GIVEN EXPECTED ABSENCE OF STRONG LOW- OR UPR-LEVEL FORCING FOR
ASCENT. THE GREATEST CHANCE FOR ISOLD STORM DEVELOPMENT MAY EXIST
IN NE OK/SE KS...WHERE LIFT IN EXIT REGION OF LLJ WILL BE MAXIMIZED.
WHILE THE PROBABILITIES LOOK VERY LOW...SVR HAIL MAY OCCUR IF STORMS
DO FORM GIVEN MUCAPE AOA 1250 J/KG.

..OZARKS INTO LWR OH VLY...
THE LLJ WILL STRENGTHEN AND VEER THIS EVENING/EARLY THURSDAY FROM
THE OZARKS INTO THE LWR OH VLY AS AFOREMENTIONED SRN STREAM IMPULSE
APPROACHES REGION. QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT ALREADY IN PLACE WILL
SERVE AS A FOCUS FOR ASCENT AS MOISTURE CONTINUES TO INCREASE ALONG
IT FROM SE KS ENE INTO SRN IL/IND. COMBINATION OF INCREASING MASS
INFLOW/MOISTURE ATOP FRONT LIKELY WILL SUPPORT STORM DEVELOPMENT
THIS EVENING ON NERN FRINGE OF EML FROM SRN/CNTRL MO INTO IL. THIS
ACTIVITY LIKELY WILL EXPAND FARTHER E INTO THE LWR OH VLY OVERNIGHT.
AT THE SAME TIME...UNIDIRECTIONAL CLOUD-LAYER FLOW AND STATIONARY
NATURE OF FORCING SHOULD ALSO ALLOW FOR SOME REGENERATIVE/
BACK-BUILDING ACTIVITY IN MO/IL. WITH ELEVATED CAPE ON THE ORDER OF
750 J/KG AND 500 MB TEMPS AROUND -18 TO -20C...SETUP WILL SUPPORT
HAIL IN STRONGER STORMS. MODEST INSTABILITY SHOULD...HOWEVER
..LIMIT OVERALL EXTENT OF SVR THREAT.

IN THE MEANTIME...PATCHES OF ELEVATED CONVECTION/ISOLD THUNDER
EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY INCREASE IN COVERAGE OVER PARTS OF MO AND IL
TODAY AS MOISTURE INCREASES ON LEADING EDGE OF ADVANCING EML. WEAK
INSTABILITY SHOULD KEEP ANY SVR HAIL THREAT ISOLATED.

..DISCUSSION...
PROGRESSIVE NRN STREAM PATTERN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THIS

LOW-AMPLITUDE SHORTWAVE TROUGHS. ONE EXCEPTION WILL BE STG
SHORTWAVE THAT SHOULD MOVE FROM PACIFIC NW DAY-3...ENEWD FROM MT

STRONGEST LOW LEVEL FORCING WILL OCCUR. TSTMS -- SOME POSSIBLY SVR
-- MAY DEVELOP DAYS 5-6/30TH-1ST OVER PORTIONS MS VALLEY AND SRN

FIRST TROUGH -- NOW EVIDENT IN MOISTURE CHANNEL IMAGERY NEAR COASTAL
PACIFIC NW -- IS EXPECTED TO CROSS NRN ROCKIES AND N-CENTRAL PLAINS
THROUGH DAY-2. PERTURBATION THEN SHOULD ACCELERATE EWD FROM UPPER
GREAT LAKES STATES ACROSS NEW ENGLAND BY END OF DAY-3 PERIOD.
ASSOCIATED SFC COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SEWD FROM LOWER/MIDDLE OH VALLEY
REGION ACROSS CENTRAL/SRN APPALACHIANS...TN VALLEY...AND MUCH OF
LOWER MS RIVER VALLEY THIS PERIOD. SWRN SEGMENT OF THIS FRONT
SHOULD DECELERATE LATE IN PERIOD OVER SOME PORTION CENTRAL/SRN TX.
DRYLINE SHOULD EXTEND FROM NERN MEX PIEDMONT NWD ACROSS SW TX TO
INTERSECTION WITH FRONT...AND WILL MARK WRN BOUND OF SIGNIFICANT
CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL. FRONTAL ZONE SHOULD WEAKEN AND RETREAT NWD
LATE IN PERIOD AS SFC CYCLOGENESIS OCCURS OVER NRN HIGH
PLAINS...AHEAD OF NWRN CONUS TROUGH.

FARTHER NW...SEVERAL SHORTWAVE COMPONENTS OF PERSISTENT GULF OF AK
LOW ARE PROGGED TO PHASE AND DIG SEWD. COMBINED PERTURBATION SHOULD
MOVE ASHORE PACIFIC NW EARLY IN DAY-3 PERIOD AS STG SHORTWAVE
TROUGH...PERHAPS WITH EMBEDDED/CLOSED LOW. TSTMS...PERHAPS WITH STG
GUSTS OR SMALL HAIL...MAY PRECEDE THIS FEATURE OVER INTERIOR PACIFIC
NW...ESPECIALLY INVOF STG LOW LEVEL COLD FRONT. HOWEVER...ANY
ASSOCIATED SVR POTENTIAL APPEARS TOO MRGL/CONDITIONAL FOR
PROBABILITIES THIS SOON.

..SRN PLAINS TO LOWER MS VALLEY...
CONSIDERABLE MODEL VARIEGATION IN FRONTAL PLACEMENT -- DISCUSSED IN
DAY-2 OUTLOOK -- LIKEWISE EXTENDS INTO AND INFLUENCES
LOCATION/TIMING OF DAY-3 CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL. BECAUSE OF
ASSOCIATED UNCERTAINTIES...AS WELL AS CAPPING CONCERNS AND FCST
WEAKNESS OF LOW LEVEL FLOW AND DEEP-LAYER SHEAR OVER ALMOST ANY
REASONABLE FRONTAL POSITION...WILL MAINTAIN LESS THAN CATEGORICAL
RISK OF SVR FOR THIS PERIOD. FAVORABLE FACTORS PRIMARILY INCLUDE
POTENTIAL FOR FRONTAL CONVERGENCE AND STG SFC HEATING TO WEAKEN
CINH...STEEP MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES ASSOCIATED WITH ELEVATED MIXED
LAYER...AND BOUNDARY LAYER THETAE E OF DRYLINE SUITABLE FOR
STG/BRIEFLY SVR TSTMS. SFC DEW POINTS 60S F SHOULD BE COMMON ACROSS

..NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

..SRN AND CNTRL PLAINS...
ZONAL FLOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE CONUS TODAY AS A SFC TROUGH
DEVELOPS IN THE HIGH PLAINS. IN RESPONSE...A LOW-LEVEL JET WILL
STRENGTHEN ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS AND THIS WILL BRING LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE QUICKLY NWD ACROSS EAST TX INTO OK BY THIS AFTERNOON.
ALTHOUGH MODERATE INSTABILITY IS FORECAST TO DEVELOP ALONG THE MOIST
AXIS...A MID-LEVEL JET MOVING INTO THE ROCKIES WILL TRANSPORT A
STRONG ELEVATED MIXED LAYER EWD ACROSS THE REGION CAPPING THE
AIRMASS. AS A RESULT...THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT APPEARS UNLIKELY
ACROSS MOST OF THE SRN AND CNTRL PLAINS. THE BEST CHANCE FOR
ISOLATED DEVELOPMENT WOULD BE IN ERN KS OR ERN OK WHERE STRONG LIFT
WILL EXIST ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW-LEVEL JET. IF A STORM CAN
DEVELOP...HAIL WOULD BE POSSIBLE AS THE CONVECTION MOVES EWD INTO
THE OZARKS LATE THIS AFTERNOON.

..OZARK PLATEAU...
A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONT WILL BE IN PLACE TODAY FROM SE KS EXTENDING
ENEWD INTO SCNTRL IL. MODEL FORECASTS INCREASE LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE
ALONG THE BOUNDARY BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON WHICH COMBINED WITH LIFT
ASSOCIATED WITH THE EXIT REGION OF A 30 TO 40 KT LOW-LEVEL JET
SHOULD SUPPORT SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. THE ACTIVITY
SHOULD REMAIN MOSTLY ELEVATED...EXPANDING NEWD ACROSS THE OZARK
PLATEAU LATE THIS AFTERNOON REACHING THE LOWER OH VALLEY BY EARLY
THIS EVENING. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ACROSS THE REGION SHOW MODERATE TO
STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR AND MID-LEVEL TEMPS IN THE -18 TO -20C RANGE.
THIS SHOULD SUPPORT A HAIL THREAT WITH THE STRONGER CELLS. WEAK
INSTABILITY SHOULD KEEP ANY HAIL POTENTIAL MARGINAL.

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1244 AM CDT WED MAR 26 2008

VALID 271200Z - 281200Z

..NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

..SYNOPSIS...
PROGRESSIVE UPPER PATTERN WILL CONTINUE THROUGH
PERIOD...CHARACTERIZED BY LACK OF HIGHLY AMPLIFIED PERTURBATIONS.
MOST SIGNIFICANT SHORTWAVE TROUGH -- NOW EVIDENT IN MOISTURE CHANNEL
IMAGERY APCHG COASTAL PACIFIC NW -- IS FCST TO MOVE EWD FROM
N-CENTRAL PLAINS ACROSS UPPER MS VALLEY DURING PERIOD. ASSOCIATED
SFC LOW SHOULD DEVELOP OVER WY DAY-1...THEN MOVE EWD-ESEWD ACROSS
N-CENTRAL PLAINS.

SFC FRONTAL ZONE NOW OVER OZARKS...CENTRAL OK AND WRN TX PANHANDLE
IS BECOMING QUASISTATIONARY AND SHOULD WEAKEN DAY-1...BEFORE BEING
OVERTAKEN BY LOW TRAILING SWWD FROM AFOREMENTIONED SFC LOW DURING
THIS PERIOD. SECONDARY FRONT WILL MOVE SEWD ACROSS MID MS VALLEY
AND PORTIONS SRN PLAINS. DRYLINE SHOULD EXTEND SSWWD FROM FRONT
ACROSS S-CENTRAL/SWRN OK AND W-CENTRAL TX.

..LOWER OH VALLEY REGION...
SCATTERED TO WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS ARE FCST TO DEVELOP INVOF SFC
COLD FRONT...EARLIEST POTENTIAL BEING OVER IL/INDIANA AND SHIFTING
EWD NEAR WARM FRONT THROUGH AFTERNOON. SOME OF THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD
PERSIST THROUGH EVENING ACROSS PORTIONS OH/PA...MOVING INTO
PROGRESSIVELY WEAKER BUOYANCY WIDTH EWD EXTENT. OCCASIONAL HAIL AND
STG-SVR GUSTS MAY OCCUR WITH MOST INTENSE ACTIVITY...IN ENVIRONMENT
OF FAVORABLE DEEP-LAYER SHEAR BUT MRGL BUOYANCY. TSTMS MAY
BACKBUILD DISCRETELY SWWD ALONG OR JUST N OF SFC FRONT DURING
MID-LATE AFTERNOON. EXPECT PROGRESSIVELY WARMER TEMPS WITH SWWD
EXTENT ABOVE SFC...ASSOCIATED WITH BASE OF ELEVATED MIXED-LAYER AIR
MASS. HOWEVER...FRONTAL LIFT AND LARGER SFC THETAE WITH SWWD EXTENT
ACROSS SRN IL...MO AND AR MAY SUPPORT PERIOD OF LATE AFTERNOON
DEVELOPMENT WITH ISOLATED HAIL AND STG GUSTS...SOME OF WHICH MAY
PERSIST INTO EVENING BEFORE DIMINISHING.

..SRN PLAINS...
SVR POTENTIAL ACROSS THIS REGION IS STRONGLY CONDITIONAL...WITH
STOUT CAPPING LIKELY TO RESTRICT DIURNAL CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL
SUBSTANTIALLY...AND TO CONFINE WHATEVER TSTMS MAY DEVELOP TO ALONG
OR JUST N OF SFC FRONT. CONSIDERABLE SPREAD STILL IS EVIDENT
AMONGST OPERATIONAL WRF/SPECTRAL...AS WELL AS VARIOUS SREF
MEMBERS...REGARDING POSITION OF SFC FRONT DURING LATE
AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING. THIS IS CRITICAL TO MORE NARROWLY
DEFINING/CONCENTRATING SVR THREAT...GIVEN STRONG CAPPING REASONABLY
PROGGED ACROSS THIS REGION. PRIND LITTLE OR NO SIGNIFICANT
MID-UPPER LEVEL PERTURBATIONS WILL PASS OVER THIS REGION DURING
PERIOD OF PEAK SFC THETAE TO FURTHER SUPPORT POTENTIAL.
NONETHELESS...DEEP-LAYER SHEAR WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELL
EVOLUTION...AND RESULTANT LARGE HAIL POTENTIAL...WITH ANY TSTMS THAT
CAN DEVELOP. EXPECT STEEP MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES...SFC DEW POINTS
UPPER 50S TO LOW 60S F IN MUCH OF MOIST SECTOR...AND ENLARGED
HODOGRAPHS RESULTING FROM BACKED SFC FLOW IN FRONTAL ZONE.
