TORNADO WATCH NUMBER 305
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
505 PM MDT TUE MAY 29 2007

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHEAST COLORADO

EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 505 PM UNTIL
1100 PM MDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 85 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 25 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF
PUEBLO COLORADO TO 35 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF LAMAR COLORADO.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

OTHER WATCH INFORMATION...CONTINUE...WW 304...

DISCUSSION...LARGE MCS IS INTENSIFYING OVER EAST CENTRAL CO AND IS
EXPECTED TO PROPAGATE EAST-SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE EVENING. OTHER
MORE ISOLATED CELLS ARE FORMING ALONG THE FOOTHILLS OF SOUTH CENTRAL
CO AND WILL ALSO MOVE SLOWLY EASTWARD THIS EVENING. SUPERCELLS
AHEAD OF PRIMARY MCS WILL HAVE A RISK OF VERY LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING
WINDS...AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. STORMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MCS WILL
HAVE PRIMARILY AND DAMAGING WIND AND HAIL THREAT.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 27030.
