THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

EASTERN IOWA
NORTHWEST ILLINOIS
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN

EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 1235 PM UNTIL
700 PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES NORTH OF LONEROCK
WISCONSIN TO 60 MILES SOUTHEAST OF MOLINE ILLINOIS. FOR A

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...WELL-DEFINED MCV IN IA WILL LIFT NNEWD TOWARD WI THIS
AFTERNOON...WITH CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN A
BROKEN ARC FROM NE TO SE OF THE MID LEVEL VORTICITY CENTER.
BOUNDARY LAYER DEWPOINTS HAVE INCREASED INTO THE UPPER 60S NEAR THE
MS RIVER IN ADVANCE OF THE DEVELOPING STORMS...WHILE VERTICAL SHEAR
IS QUITE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS IN A SMALL AREA E/NE OF THE MCV.
GIVEN THE INCREASING MOISTURE/MODERATE INSTABILITY AND STRONG
LOW-LEVEL SHEAR...ADDITIONAL SUPERCELLS AND TORNADOES CAN BE
EXPECTED THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
