AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH OVER THE ROCKIES WILL AMPLIFY TONIGHT AS
SOUTHWEST FLOW BECOMES ESTABLISHED OVER THE LOWER MS VALLEY. A
SHORTWAVE TROUGH EVIDENT ON WATER VAPOR IMAGERY CURRENTLY OVER NRN
MEXICO WILL APPROACH SOUTH TX TONIGHT. A LARGE AREA OF RAIN IS
LOCATED IN A BROAD REGION OF LIFT NORTH OF A SFC LOW IN THE WRN GULF
OF MEXICO. THIS ACTIVITY IS ELEVATED AND FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOW A
MINIMAL AMOUNT OF INSTABILITY AROUND 500 MB. THIS COULD BE ENOUGH
FOR A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES AS THE SHORTWAVE APPROACHES AND 500 MB
TEMPS COOL ALONG THE TX COAST. ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE
CONUS...THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS NOT EXPECTED TONIGHT.
