LATEST WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS A BROAD WRN U.S. UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH
IN PLACE WITH SOUTHWEST FLOW OVER THE CNTRL STATES. A SUBTLE
SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS LOCATED ACROSS THE FOUR CORNERS REGION AND THIS
FEATURE WILL MOVE QUICKLY NEWD INTO THE PLAINS STATES TONIGHT.
LARGE-SCALE ASCENT WILL INCREASE AHEAD OF THIS FEATURE AND LOW-LEVEL
FLOW ASSOCIATED WITH AN 850 MB JET IN THE OZARKS SHOULD RESULT IN
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT LATE TONIGHT FROM NE KS ENEWD
INTO WRN IL. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ACROSS THE REGION SHOW INCREASING
INSTABILITY MAINLY ABOVE 850 MB SUGGESTING THE ACTIVITY WILL BE
ELEVATED IN NATURE.

ELSEWHERE...AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH EMBEDDED IN NORTHWEST FLOW WILL
MOVE ONSHORE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST. STRONG LARGE-SCALE ASCENT AND
STEEP LAPSE RATES ASSOCIATED WITH THE TROUGH SHOULD CONTINUE A
THREAT FOR ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH LATE TONIGHT ALONG THE
COASTAL REGION FROM NRN CA TO WA.
