HEAVY RAIN WAS CAUSING WATER TO FLOW OVER CURBS AND WAS
CREATING DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS NEAR THE
INTERSECTION OF EASTERN AND ST. LOUIS. THIS REPORT WAS
RELAYED BY A NWS EMPLOYEE.

LIGHTNING STRUCK A POWER POLE NEAR DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS AS
WELL AS A FEW TREES IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. THE TIME OF
THESE EVENTS WAS ESTIMATED.

BROADCAST MEDIA IN LAS VEGAS REPORTED THAT LIGHTNING
STRUCK TWO PALM TREES. THE FIRE IN THE PALM TREES THEN
SPREAD TO A NEARBY HOUSE CAUSING IT TO CATCH ON FIRE. THE
TIME OF THIS EVENT WAS ESTIMATED.

THUNDERSTORM WINDS ESTIMATED AT 50 MPH CAUSED DAMAGE TO A
CARPORT AWNING AT A MOBILE HOME AND BLEW A FENCE DOWN
NEXT TO A MOBILE HOME AS WELL AS CAUSING A CARPORT TO
COLLAPSE ON ANOTHER MOBILE HOME. THE TIME OF THIS EVENT
WAS ESTIMATED.

CAUSED SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER TO COVER PARTS OF LAS
VEGAS BOULEVARD MAINLY ALONG PARTS OF THE NORTH STRIP.
THE TIME OF THIS EVENT WAS ESTIMATED.

BROADCAST MEDIA IN LAS VEGAS REPORTED FLASH FLOODING AT
THE INTERSECTION OF SAHARA AVENUE AND MARYLAND PARKWAY.
THE TIME OF THIS EVENT WAS ESTIMATED.

0450 PM FLASH FLOOD SAM'S TOWN 36.11N 115.06W
09/08/2008 CLARK NV BROADCAST MEDIA

BROADCAST MEDIA IN LAS VEGAS REPORTED THAT HEAVY RAINS
HAD CAUSED FLASH FLOODING NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF
BOULDER HIGHWAY AND FLAMINGO ROAD. FLOWING WATER WAS
ESTIMATED TO BE AT LEAST 8 INCHES DEEP ON THE ROADS AND
WAS FLOWING OFF THE ROADS AND INTO PARKING LOTS. IN
ADDITION, WATER WAS UP TO THE BOTTOM OF A BUS.
FLOODWATERS OF AT LEAST A FOOT ALSO FORCED THE CLOSURE OF
THE FLAMINGO ON-RAMP TO INTERSTATE 515. THE TIME OF THIS
EVENT WAS ESTIMATED.

0748 PM FLASH FLOOD 10 S SHOSHONE 35.82N 116.28W
09/08/2008 INYO CA LAW ENFORCEMENT

HEAVY RAINFALL IN THE AREA CREATED FLASH FLOODING ACROSS
STATE ROUTE 127 SOUTH OF SHOSHONE. A DEPUTY ESTIMATED 20
INCHES OF WATER FLOWING ACROSS THE HIGHWAY IN AT LEAST
TWO PLACES. VEHICLES WERE TRAPPED BETWEEN WATER CROSSING
THE ROADWAY. A DEPUTY LOST A VEHICLE IN FLOODWATERS.
THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE DEPUTY. AS OF 945 PM
ROADWAY CLOSURES WERE STILL IN EFFECT.
