DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0739 AM CDT MON OCT 13 2008

VALID 131300Z - 141200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...WEST TX/OK...
MORNING SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS THAT THE LARGE POSITIVELY-TILTED
UPPER TROUGH OVER THE WESTERN STATES HAS REMAINED NEARLY STATIONARY
OVERNIGHT...WHILE THE ASSOCIATED SURFACE COLD FRONT HAS SURGED
SOUTHWARD DOWN THE CENTRAL/SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS. AS OF 12Z...THE
FRONT EXTENDS FROM THE TX PANHANDLE INTO NORTHWEST OK...THEN
NORTHEASTWARD INTO CENTRAL KS AND FAR EASTERN NEB. SOUTHERLY LOW
LEVEL WINDS TO THE EAST OF THE FRONT ARE MAINTAINING A MOIST
BOUNDARY LAYER WITH DEWPOINTS IN THE 60S. HOWEVER...WARM
TEMPERATURES ALOFT AND WEAK LAPSE RATES HAVE...AND WILL CONTINUE TO
SUPPRESS VIGOROUS CONVECTIVE UPDRAFTS. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE
LIKELY TO RE-DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON ATOP THE COLD SURFACE AIRMASS
OVER PARTS OF WEST TX/OK. HOWEVER...NO SEVERE STORMS ARE
ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME.

...ELSEWHERE...
OTHER THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE TODAY IN PLUME OF RICH LOW LEVEL
MOISTURE ACROSS PARTS OF SOUTH TX AND COASTAL LA...AS WELL AS IN
DEEP EASTERLY FLOW REGIME OVER THE FL PENINSULA. SEVERE STORMS ARE
NOT EXPECTED IN THESE AREAS EITHER.
