...DISCUSSION...

LATEST MEDIUM-RANGE GUIDANCE IS IN GENERAL AGREEMENT IN THE NEWD
PROGRESSION OF LONG WAVE TROUGH FROM THE ERN U.S. INTO THE ATLANTIC
AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BROAD-SCALE TROUGH OVER THE ERN PACIFIC
INTO WRN STATES. IN THE LOW LEVELS...A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL
BE MAINTAINED FROM THE WRN ATLANTIC SWWD ACROSS THE NRN GULF OF
MEXICO WITH LEE TROUGHING OVER THE HIGH PLAINS REGION.

THE ECMWF AND GFS INDICATE THAT A SHORT WAVE TROUGH WILL UNDERCUT
MEAN RIDGE AXIS WHILE TRANSLATING SEWD FROM THE WRN INTERMOUNTAIN
REGION INTO THE CNTRL OR SRN PLAINS ON D5 AND D6 /WED OCT 29TH AND
THU OCT 30TH/. ANY ASSOCIATED LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE RETURN WILL LIKELY
REMAIN QUITE LIMITED DUE TO THE PERSISTENT RIDGING ACROSS THE GULF
BASIN. THEREFORE...NO ORGANIZED SEVERE WEATHER IS EXPECTED THROUGH
THE EXTENDED FORECAST PERIOD.
