MORNING WATER VAPOR LOOPS SHOW A POTENT MID/UPPER LEVEL SHORTWAVE
TROUGH THAT WILL MOVE ASHORE AND INTO PARTS OF WA/ORE TODAY.
LIGHTNING ACTIVITY IS NOTED ALONG THIS TROUGH AXIS AROUND 128W.
COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT AND STRONG FORCING WILL PROMOTE SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE COASTAL RANGES OF
WA/ORE...MAINLY THIS MORNING THROUGH MID AFTERNOON. BY THIS
EVENING...THE TROUGH WILL HAVE ROTATED INLAND WHERE DRY LOW LEVEL
AIRMASS SHOULD END THE THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS.
...GREAT LAKES...
COLD TEMPERATURES ALOFT WILL MAINTAIN STEEP LAPSE RATES OVER THE
GREAT LAKES. THIS MAY RESULT IN ISOLATED LIGHTNING STRIKES THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT OVER PARTS OF LAKES MICHIGAN AND HURON.
HOWEVER...ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN TOO ISOLATED FOR A
CATEGORICAL THUNDERSTORM OUTLOOK AREA.
