PLAINS TODAY...WHILE UPPER TROUGHS AFFECT THE EASTERN AND WESTERN
STATES. THE WESTERN TROUGH WILL RESULT IN SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST...AND OVER
PARTS OF THE NORTHERN GREAT BASIN.

...NORTH CENTRAL CA/SACRAMENTO VALLEY...
A SERIES OF SHORTWAVE TROUGHS ARE FORECAST TO OVERSPREAD NORTHERN CA
DURING THIS FORECAST PERIOD. COLD MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES AND STEEP
LAPSE RATES WILL ALLOW MARGINAL INSTABILITY TO DEVELOP IF/WHERE
AFTERNOON BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS CAN DEVELOP. DESPITE MUCAPE VALUES
OF LESS THAN 300 J/KG...STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR AND LOW MELTING LEVELS
WILL PROMOTE A RISK OF ORGANIZED/LOW-TOPPED SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF
HAIL AND/OR A BRIEF TORNADO.
