MILE LONG PATH STARTING JUST NORTH OF HIGHWAY 92. 120
HOMES WERE DAMAGED...INCLUDING 12 HEAVILY DAMAGED OR
DESTROYED. DAMAGE PRIMARILY A RESULT OF NUMEROUS LARGE
DOWNED TREES.

TORNADO INITIALLY TOUCHED DOWN IN PHENIX CITY ALABAMA AND
CROSSED THE CHATTAHOOCHEE RIVER INTO COLUMBUS NEAR THE
OLD RANKIN BUILDING. MINOR TO MODERATE DAMAGE TO OVER 100
HOMES AND/OR BUSINESSES ALONG THE 4-MILE LONG TORNADO
PATH. HEAVIEST DAMAGE IN THE HILTON ROAD AND HARDING
DRIVE AREAS...LARGELY FROM DOWNED TREES. HUNDREDS OF
TREES AND MANY POWER LINES DOWN. A SMALL UTILITY TRUCK AT
A NURSERY MOVED 25 FEET THROUGH A FENCE. MAXIMUM PATH
WIDTH 250 YARDS WITH MAXIMUM WINDS ESTIMATED AT 105 MPH.
