THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

CENTRAL INTO NORTHEAST IOWA
FAR NORTHWEST ILLINOIS
NORTHEAST KANSAS
NORTHWEST INTO NORTH CENTRAL MISSOURI
SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN

EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON FROM 505 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF
EMPORIA KANSAS TO 60 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF DUBUQUE IOWA. FOR

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...ACTIVE EVENING ON TAP WITH LARGE...BROKEN LINE OF
STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE ENEWD FROM NERN
KS INTO CENTRAL IA/NWRN MO. ADDITIONAL CLUSTER OF STORMS IS NEAR
SURFACE WARM FRONT OVER NERN IA/SWRN WI AND IS BEING AIDED BY WEAK
SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVING INTO THE REGION. SHEAR IS QUITE IMPRESSIVE
ACROSS THE REGION AND WILL SUPPORT THREAT OF SUPERCELLS AND POSSIBLE
TORNADOES WITH ANY SURFACE-BASED ACTIVITY. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS ARE ADDITIONAL HAZARDS...ALONG WITH HEAVY RAINFALL.
