NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0633 PM CDT THU MAY 07 2009

AREAS AFFECTED...EASTERN NC/NORTHEAST SC INTO FAR SOUTHEAST VA

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 259...

VALID 072333Z - 080030Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 259
CONTINUES.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 259 CONTINUES UNTIL 05Z ACROSS EASTERN
NC/NORTHEAST SC.

PRIMARY SEVERE THREAT CONTINUES WITH PERSISTENT SUPERCELLS ACROSS
COASTAL NC INTO FAR SOUTHEAST VA...WITH CONTINUED SEVERE HAIL AND
ISOLATED/BRIEF TORNADO POTENTIAL. WITH MOIST SOUTHERLY FLOW AT THE
SURFACE...WSR-88D VWP DATA FROM MOREHEAD CITY SUGGESTS AS MUCH AS
150-200 M2/S2 OF 0-1 KM SRH...WHICH WOULD SUPPORT THE POSSIBILITY AN
ADDITIONAL ISOLATED/BRIEF TORNADO MAINLY OVER THE NEXT HOUR OR SO
ACROSS COASTAL NC/PERHAPS FAR SOUTHEAST VA. OTHERWISE...EVEN WITH A
COOLING BOUNDARY LAYER THIS EVENING...SOME ADDITIONAL UPSWING IN
TSTM COVERAGE WITH A SEVERE HAIL/DAMAGING WIND THREAT COULD OCCUR
FARTHER WEST IN ASSOCIATION WITH A FAST MOVING MID LEVEL IMPULSE
CURRENTLY CROSSING THE SOUTH-CENTRAL APPALACHIANS PER WATER VAPOR
IMAGERY.
