DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0653 PM CST MON JAN 18 2010

VALID 190100Z - 191200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...CNTRL CALIFORNIA...
THE LATEST WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH ABOUT TO
MOVE ONSHORE ACROSS CA. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE ONGOING AHEAD OF
THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH ALONG THE CA COAST FROM NEAR EUREKA SWD TO
SAN FRANCISCO AND INLAND ACROSS PARTS OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY.
FORECAST SOUNDINGS IN THIS AREA ALONG WITH OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS
SUGGEST THE ENVIRONMENT IS CHARACTERIZED BY WEAK INSTABILITY /MUCAPE
OF 200-400 J/KG/ AND STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES. THIS MAY BE ENOUGH
FOR A MARGINAL HAIL THREAT IF CELLS CAN INITIATE NEAR THE COAST
SOUTH OF SAN FRANCISCO AND MOVE INLAND OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
FURTHER SOUTH ACROSS THE LA BASIN...AN EXTENSIVE BAND OF RAIN HAS
STABILIZED THE AIRMASS AND A SEVERE THREAT IS NOT EXPECTED THIS
EVENING.

..BROYLES.. 01/19/2010
