VALID 221200Z - 271200Z

...DISCUSSION...
A SHIFT TOWARD ENERGETIC WESTERLIES WILL BEGIN THIS UPCOMING
WEEKEND. WITHIN THE MEDIUM RANGE...A TROUGH OF INTEREST WILL EJECT
FROM THE ERN PACIFIC BASIN EWD ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS AND INTO THE
GREAT LAKES REGION IN THE MONDAY-TUESDAY TIME FRAME /DAY 5-6/.
PASSAGE OF A RELATIVELY STRONG COLD FRONT INTO THE SRN PLAINS AND
MID-SOUTH PRIOR TO NEXT WEEK WILL LIKELY AFFECT QUALITY MOISTURE
RETURN AHEAD OF THE SYSTEM. AT THE SAME TIME...THE BUILDING HOT
SUBTROPICAL RIDGE DOWNSTREAM WILL MAINTAIN A STOUT EML ATOP THE
RETURNING MOISTURE. THUS...IT IS NOT ENTIRELY CLEAR ON HOW
WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER MIGHT BE AS THIS IMPULSE PROGRESSES ACROSS
THE NRN PLAINS AND UPPER MS VALLEY REGION AND A MEDIUM RANGE OUTLOOK
IS NOT WARRANTED AT THIS TIME.

A STRONGER TROUGH WILL EJECT TO THE NRN PLAINS LATE NEXT WEEK...BUT
MODELS DIFFER ON TIMING AND AMPLITUDE OF THIS SYSTEM.

..RACY.. 08/19/2010
