AN INITIAL SHORTWAVE TROUGH WILL MOVE INLAND OVER NRN CA/ORE AND
WEAKEN THIS MORNING AS A LARGER UPSTREAM TROUGH OVER THE SE GULF OF
ALASKA APPROACHES THE WA/ORE COASTS THIS EVENING INTO TONIGHT.
SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS A SWATH OF LOW-TOPPED CONVECTION IN
ASSOCIATION WITH THE MIDLEVEL COLD CORE /-30 TO -34 C AT 500
MB/...AND THIS AREA OF STEEP LAPSE RATES/CONVECTION SHOULD REACH THE
COAST NEAR AND AFTER 00Z. THERE WOULD BE SOME CONCERN FOR DAMAGING
GUSTS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST GIVEN 50-70 KT SLY/SWLY FLOW WITHIN
THE LOWEST 1 KM AGL...BUT MINIMAL INSTABILITY INLAND SHOULD TEMPER
THIS THREAT.
