DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0642 PM CST SAT MAR 12 2011

VALID 130100Z - 131200Z

...NO TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...SYNOPSIS...
A FEW LIGHTNING STRIKES HAVE BEEN OBSERVED ACROSS NRN UT...JUST
AHEAD OF THE ADVANCING UPPER SHORT-WAVE TROUGH CROSSING THE PAC NW.
EXPECTATIONS ARE...HOWEVER...THAT THIS SPORADIC LIGHTNING SHOULD
WANE OVER THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO. THUS...WHILE A COUPLE OF STRIKES
REMAIN POSSIBLE...WILL REMOVE 10% THUNDER LINE THIS FORECAST.

ELSEWHERE...GENERALLY ZONAL FLOW ALOFT WILL PREVAIL ACROSS MOST OF
THE CONUS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE NORTHEAST STATES. WEAK WARM
ADVECTION ACROSS THE SRN PLAINS REGION MAY SUPPORT SCATTERED
OVERNIGHT SHOWERS...BUT ANY LIGHTNING POTENTIAL REMAINS QUITE LOW.

ELSEWHERE...THUNDERSTORMS ARE NOT EXPECTED.
