RATED AS A HIGH-END EF1 TORNADO WITH APPROXIMATE PATH
LENGTH OF 8 MILES...PATH WIDTH VARIABLE...ABOUT 300-400
YARDS AT ITS GREATEST EXTENT. TORNADO PATH STARTED ON
DOYLE ROAD...WEST OF GLEBE ROAD...THEN TRACKED ENE TO THE
FIVE FORKS AREA OF DINWIDDIE COUNTY. HUNDREDS OF TREES
WERE EITHER DOWNED OR SNAPPED OFF...WITH NUMEROUS POWER
LINES DOWN AND SEVERAL HOMES WITH MINOR TO MODERATE
DAMAGE. MOST SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS ON PATILLO ROAD AT
WOODED LANE, AND ON WILKINSON ROAD NEAR SHANNON DRIVE.

*** 11 FATAL, 50 INJ *** NWS STORM SURVEY DETERMINED
DAMAGE CONSISTENT WITH AN EF-3 TORNADO. PATH WIDTH 1/2 TO
3/4 MILES WIDE...18.8 MILES IN LENGTH. NUMEROUS HOMES
WERE DESTROYED...WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO TREES AND
WOODED AREAS WITHIN THE DAMAGE PATH.

04/16/2011 F2 GLOUCESTER VA NWS STORM SURVEY

NWS STORM SURVEY DETERMINED DAMAGE CONSISTENT WITH AN
EF-2 TORNADO. THE TORNADO DAMAGE WAS ALONG A NEARLY
CONTINUOUS DAMAGE PATH FROM NEAR COKE TO WARE NECK IN
GLOUCESTER COUNTY. A MORE DETAILED PRELIMINARY
ASSESSMENT...INCLUDING ESTIMATION OF WIND STRENGTH AND
MORE SPECIFIC AND COMPLETE DAMAGE PATH...WILL BE
COMPLETED ON MONDAY 4/17.
