NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0614 AM CST THU DEC 08 2011

VALID 081300Z - 091200Z

...NO TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...SYNOPSIS AND FORECAST...

IN THE WAKE OF A STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH DEPARTING NEW ENGLAND...A
BROAD CYCLONIC FLOW REGIME WILL PERSIST OVER THE CONUS DURING THE
DAY ONE PERIOD. IN THE LOW LEVELS...A COLD FRONT ACCOMPANYING THE
NEW ENGLAND SYSTEM HAS MOVED OFF THE ATLANTIC AND GULF COASTS WITH
A DRY...STABLE AIR MASS RESIDING OVER MUCH OF THE NATION. ISOLATED
LIGHTNING ACTIVITY OVER DOWN-EAST MAINE SHOULD DISSIPATE AND/OR MOVE
OUT OF THE AREA WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO. ELSEWHERE...A FEW
LIGHTNING STRIKES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH SHALLOW CONVECTIVE ELEMENTS
FORMING OVER THE GREAT LAKES. IN BOTH AREAS...TSTM POTENTIAL
APPEARS TOO MARGINAL TO WARRANT INCLUSION OF 10 PERCENT
PROBABILITIES.
