DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0759 PM CDT MON APR 16 2012

VALID 170100Z - 171200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...GULF COAST STATES...
AN EXTENSIVE CONVECTIVE COMPLEX CONTINUES TO PUSH OFFSHORE THE TX
COAST EARLY THIS EVENING...WITH THE NORTHEASTERN EXTENT OF THIS
COMPLEX/CONVECTIVE LINE GRAZING THE SOUTHERN LA COAST. A LOCALIZED
SEVERE EVENT CANNOT BE COMPLETELY RULED OUT FOR AREAS SUCH AS FAR
SOUTHERN LA...BUT THE OVERALL SEVERE POTENTIAL WILL BE LIMITED
ACROSS THE REGION GIVEN CONVECTIVE OVERTURNING/NOCTURNAL BOUNDARY
LAYER INFLUENCES.

LATER TONIGHT...SOME TSTM REDEVELOPMENT COULD OCCUR IN AREAS SUCH AS
EAST TX/INLAND PORTIONS OF THE UPPER TX COAST IN THE WAKE OF THE
EARLIER CONVECTION/EFFECTIVE FRONT. THIS WOULD BE AS A SOUTHERN
STREAM SHORTWAVE TROUGH OVER NORTHWEST TX EARLY THIS EVENING
APPROACHES THE REGION LATE TONIGHT. WHILE CONFIDENCE IN SUCH DETAILS
ARE LIMITED...SOME HAIL/GUSTY WIND THREAT CANNOT BE COMPLETELY
DISCOUNTED LATE TONIGHT/EARLY TUESDAY...BUT ORGANIZED/SUSTAINED
SEVERE TSTMS ARE UNLIKELY.

...SOUTHERN PLAINS...
LOCALLY STRONG/GUSTY WINDS MAY REMAIN POSSIBLE OVER NEXT HOUR OR TWO
WITH ONGOING BANDS OF TSTMS WITHIN A RELATIVELY DRY/WELL-MIXED
BOUNDARY LAYER ACROSS EASTERN TX PANHANDLE/NORTHWEST TX INTO FAR
WESTERN OK. HOWEVER...THESE TSTMS WILL TEND TO WANE AFTER SUNSET AS
THE BOUNDARY LAYER COOLS/QUICKLY DECOUPLES.
