NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0841 PM CDT SUN AUG 12 2012

AREAS AFFECTED...N CNTRL TX/SERN OK

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 573...

VALID 130141Z - 130245Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 573
CONTINUES.

SUMMARY...DMGG WINDS REMAIN POSSIBLE WITH WELL-DEVELOPED STORMS
ONGOING ACROSS PORTIONS OF N CNTRL TX AND SERN OK.

DISCUSSION...00Z FWD SOUNDING CONFIRMS THAT ONGOING STORMS ARE
PRIMARILY ROOTED ABOVE 700 MB...WITH SUBTLY VEERING WINDS WITH
HEIGHT CONTRIBUTING TO SUSTAINED UPDRAFTS. DESPITE THE ONSET OF
NOCTURNAL COOLING...SEASONABLY WARM TEMPERATURES AND DEW POINTS IN
THE MID TO UPPER 60S ARE DELAYING BOUNDARY LAYER
STABILIZATION...ALLOWING DMGG WIND GUSTS TO PENETRATE TO THE
SURFACE. DMGG WIND POTENTIAL IS EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DECREASE WITH
TIME ACROSS N CNTRL TX. MEANWHILE ACROSS SERN OK...A STRENGTHENING
NOCTURNAL JET MAY SUSTAIN SEVERE STORMS INTO THE
EVENING...WARRANTING A CONTINUATION OF WW573 AND 574.
