CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW

SUMMARY...A BAND OF MDT TO OCCASIONALLY HVY SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP DURING THE EVENING...PRIMARILY AFFECTING THE NEB PANHANDLE
AND NWRN NEB. SNOWFALL RATES GREATER THAN 1 INCH/HR ARE EXPECTED
WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED RATES AROUND 2 INCH/HR.

DISCUSSION...RECENT RADAR IMAGERY SHOWS A SNOW BAND DEVELOPING
ACROSS FAR NERN CO AND THE NEB PANHANDLE. THIS BAND IS LOCATED TO
THE N OF A SURFACE LOW CENTERED ON THE CNTRL CO/KS BORDER.
MESOANALYSIS AND 23Z RAP REVEAL STRONG FRONTOGENESIS BETWEEN 800-700
MB JUST SOUTH OF THIS SNOW BAND. THIS AREA OF FRONTOGENESIS IS
COUPLED WITH THE LEFT EXIT REGION OF A STRONG UPPER LEVEL JET AND IS
EXPECTED TO PERSIST FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. AS A RESULT...A SNOW
BAND CAPABLE OF PRODUCING 1 INCH/HR SNOWFALL RATES IS EXPECTED
ACROSS THE DISCUSSION AREA. THE SNOW BAND IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
NEWD...REACHING N-CNTRL NEB/S-CNTRL SD AROUND 04Z.
