THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
EXTREME EASTERN COLORADO
WESTERN KANSAS
SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA
THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE

* EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM 545 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT
CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
SEVERAL DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 60 MILES NORTH
NORTHWEST OF NORTH PLATTE NEBRASKA TO 15 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF
GUYMON OKLAHOMA. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

DISCUSSION...A STRONG MIDLEVEL TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT WILL
MOVE EWD ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS THIS EVENING...AND A SQUALL LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS IS EXPECTED TO FORM ALONG THE FRONT AS IT ENCOUNTERS
SOMEWHAT RICHER MOISTURE NEAR THE CO/KS BORDER BY 00Z. GIVEN STRONG
WIND PROFILES AND RATHER MODEST INSTABILITY/ MOISTURE...DAMAGING
WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN SEVERE STORM THREAT.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS.
