DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1023 AM CDT SAT MAR 14 2009

VALID 141630Z - 151200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

WEST-SOUTHWEST FLOW REGIME WILL CONTINUE OVER THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
AND LOWER MS VALLEY THROUGH THIS FORECAST PERIOD...AS SEVERAL WEAK
SHORTWAVE TROUGHS TRAVERSE THE REGION. ONE FEATURE IS LIFTING
NORTHEASTWARD ACROSS THE MID MS AND TN VALLEYS THIS MORNING AND IS
RESULTING IN WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION FROM OH TO AL/GA.
HOWEVER...THIS FEATURE IS MOVING AWAY FROM THE MOIST AND MARGINALLY
UNSTABLE AIRMASS OVER THE MS DELTA REGION. A FEW SCATTERED
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER PARTS OF LA/MS ALONG WEST EDGE OF
SURFACE-BASED INSTABILITY...BUT VEERING AND WEAKENING LOW LEVEL
WINDS SUGGEST THAT SHORT-TERM SEVERE RISKS ARE LIMITED.

ANOTHER FEATURE IS NOTED IN WATER VAPOR IMAGERY OVER NORTHERN
MEXICO. THIS TROUGH WILL BEGIN AFFECTING THE CENTRAL GULF COAST
REGION BY LATER THIS EVENING. LOW LEVEL WINDS MAY STRENGTHEN AGAIN
BY THIS TIME...BUT WILL REMAIN VEERED WITH ONLY MODEST LOW LEVEL
VERTICAL SHEAR EXPECTED. THEREFORE...NO ORGANIZED SEVERE STORMS ARE
ANTICIPATED.
