CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...TORNADO WATCH LIKELY

VALID 231739Z - 231915Z

INCREASING CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT IN A N-S BAND ACROSS THE CENTRAL
THIRD OF KS AND INTO NWRN OK WILL REQUIRE WW ISSUANCE SOON.

A SHARPENING DRYLINE IS BULGING NEWD ACROSS WRN KS AND THE TX/OK
PANHANDLES ATTM...AS HEATING CONTINUES W OF THE LOW CLOUD BAND OVER
THE ERN HALF OF KS/CENTRAL AND ERN OK. DEWPOINTS IN THE LOW TO MID

DEVELOPMENT OF ROUGHLY 500 J/KG MIXED-LAYER CAPE...WHICH IS
SUPPORTING TCU/SMALL CB DEVELOPMENT ALONG THE DRYLINE.

AS AIRMASS FURTHER DESTABILIZES SUPPORTING CONTINUED CONVECTIVE
DEVELOPMENT...EXISTING SHEAR PROFILES ACROSS THIS REGION --

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1228 PM CDT MON MAR 23 2009

VALID 241200Z - 251200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS TUE AFTN AND EVE FROM PARTS OF
THE SERN PLAINS INTO THE MID MS VALLEY....

...SYNOPSIS...
WITH A PROMINENT BLOCK IN THE LARGE-SCALE UPPER PATTERN STILL
DEVELOPING ACROSS THE NORTH ATLANTIC...BROAD UPPER TROUGHING
ENCOMPASSING MUCH OF THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL U.S. WILL BE SLOW TO
DEVELOP EASTWARD. THUS...AS THE NEXT COUPLE IN A SERIES OF SHORT
WAVE IMPULSES DIG EAST OF A NORTHEAST PACIFIC UPPER RIDGE...INTO THE
UPPER TROUGH...THE VIGOROUS DOWNSTREAM CLOSED LOW...NOW LIFTING INTO
THE NORTH CENTRAL PLAINS...IS PROGGED TO CONTINUE PERHAPS A BIT MORE
NORTHWARD THAN EASTWARD...TOWARD THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY DURING
THIS PERIOD. MODELS INDICATE THAT THIS WILL OCCUR AS A SIGNIFICANT
SMALLER SCALE IMPULSE PIVOTS AROUND THE SOUTHERN/EASTERN PERIPHERY
OF THE MID-LEVEL CIRCULATION. GUIDANCE GENERALLY INDICATES THAT
ASSOCIATED LOW-LEVEL COOLING WILL ADVANCE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
TOWARD THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...WITH A TENDENCY TO OUTRUN AND
SHIFT SOUTHEAST OF STRONGER MID-LEVEL FORCING FOR UPWARD VERTICAL
MOTION AND COOLING. THIS...COUPLED WITH LOW-LEVEL DRYING ASSOCIATED
WITH A LINGERING SURFACE RIDGE OVER THE EASTERN STATES...WILL LIMIT
THE BREADTH OF AND DESTABILIZATION WITHIN THE WARM SECTOR OF THE
DEEP SURFACE CYCLONE MIGRATING THROUGH THE UPPER MIDWEST.

...EASTERN TEXAS THROUGH MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...
DESPITE THE AFOREMENTIONED LIMITING FACTORS...A WINDOW OF
OPPORTUNITY APPEARS TO EXIST FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRONG/SEVERE
STORMS LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY TUESDAY EVENING. AN AXIS OF
AT LEAST WEAK TO...PERHAPS...MODERATE INSTABILITY IS EXPECTED AHEAD
OF THE FRONT BY LATE AFTERNOON...FROM THE ARKLATEX THROUGH THE
MISSOURI OZARKS...WHERE SUFFICIENT BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTURE IS
EXPECTED FOR MIXED LAYER CAPE OF 500-1000 J/KG. AND...FRONTAL
FORCING COULD BE SUFFICIENT TO SUPPORT THE EVOLUTION OF A SQUALL
LINE IN THE PRESENCE OF A KINEMATIC ENVIRONMENT CHARACTERIZED BY
STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR AND 40-50+ KT SOUTHWESTERLY MEAN FLOW.

DAMAGING SURFACE WIND GUSTS SEEM TO BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE THREAT.
HOWEVER...MODEL FORECAST SOUNDINGS INDICATE THAT LARGE CLOCKWISE
CURVED LOW-LEVEL HODOGRAPHS ARE PROBABLE AHEAD OF THE FRONT/
CONVECTIVE LINE. THIS WILL BE SUPPORTIVE OF TORNADIC POTENTIAL...
IF DAYTIME HEATING AND LARGE SCALE LIFT BECOME SUFFICIENT TO
OVERCOME INHIBITION...AND SUPPORT DISCRETE CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT.
PROBABILITIES FOR THIS APPEAR SOMEWHAT LOW AT THE PRESENT TIME...
WITH BEST POTENTIAL PERHAPS ALONG A PRE-FRONTAL CONFLUENCE EXTENDING
FROM PARTS OF THE ARKLATEX THROUGH CENTRAL ARKANSAS. COMPARED TO
AREAS FARTHER NORTH...LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BE A BIT MORE
FAVORABLE ACROSS THIS REGION. AND...CAPPING MAY BE A BIT WEAKER
THAN AREAS SOUTHWARD TOWARD THE WESTERN/CENTRAL GULF COAST.

PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0336 AM CDT MON MAR 23 2009

...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE CENTRAL AND
SOUTHERN PLAINS...

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS
OF THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT.

THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE

CENTRAL AND EASTERN KANSAS
NORTHERN OKLAHOMA

ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM THE RED RIVER
VALLEY REGION OF TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA NORTH/NORTHEAST INTO PARTS OF
NEBRASKA...MISSOURI...IOWA...SOUTH DAKOTA...AND SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA.

A POWERFUL JET STREAM DISTURBANCE...WITH WINDS IN EXCESS OF 120
MPH...WILL SWEEP EAST-NORTHEAST FROM THE FOUR CORNERS REGION ACROSS
THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND LOWER MISSOURI VALLEY LATER TODAY THROUGH
EARLY TUESDAY. AS THIS OCCURS...A STRONG SURFACE LOW NOW IN WESTERN
NEBRASKA WILL TRACK NORTHEAST INTO EASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA.

A COLD FRONT AND PRE-FRONTAL TROUGH ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW WILL
SERVE AS A FOCUS FOR THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON AND
TONIGHT AS THE FRONT AND TROUGH PROGRESS EAST-SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN PLAINS.

THE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE AVAILABLE TO STORMS WILL BE SOMEWHAT MARGINAL
COMPARED TO SOME SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS. WINDS...HOWEVER...WILL BE
FAVORABLE FOR LONG-LIVED...ROTATING STORMS CALLED SUPERCELLS.
SHOULD SUSTAINED SUPERCELLS FORM...THEY WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO
PRODUCE A FEW STRONG TORNADOES...IN ADDITION TO SEVERE HAIL AND
WIND.

ALTHOUGH ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS MAY OCCUR ANYTIME BETWEEN NOW AND
SUNRISE TUESDAY IN THE HIGHLIGHTED REGION...THE BULK OF THE SEVERE
WEATHER IS EXPECTED LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING.

THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER
SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER
RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.
ADDITIONALLY...STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING
THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION.

TWO SEPERATE ROUNDS OF GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS AFFECTED THE MOJAVE
DESERT AND SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN IN THE PAST 36 HOURS. THE FIRST ROUND
OF GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. THE SECOND ROUND OCCURRED FROM SUNDAY MORNING INTO SUNDAY
AFTERNOON AS A STRONG CORE OF WINDS ALOFT MOVED ACROSS THE MOJAVE
DESERT AND WERE ABLE TO MIX DOWN TO THE SURFACE. A COLD FRONT PASSED
THROUGH THE AREA DURING THE DAY ON SUNDAY AND WAS FOLLOWED BY GUSTY
NORTHWEST WINDS. AS THESE NORTHWEST WINDS WERE FUNNELED DOWN THE GAP
INTO THE NORTHWEST PART OF THE LAS VEGAS VALLEY ON SUNDAY EVENING
THEY WERE ENHANCED AND CAUSED GUSTS OF 50 TO 60 MPH FROM THE
NORTHWEST PART OF THE VALLEY INTO NORTH LAS VEGAS. IN ADDITION TO
GUSTY WINDS THESE AREAS ALSO SAW A WIDESPREAD AREA OF BLOWING DUST
THAT DROPPED VISIBILITY UNDER 3 MILES FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR.

DAY 3 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0222 AM CDT MON MAR 23 2009

VALID 251200Z - 261200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM PORTIONS OF CNTRL TX EWD
INTO PARTS OF THE LOWER MS VALLEY...

...SYNOPSIS...

A BROADLY-CYCLONIC LARGE-SCALE PATTERN WILL EXIST OVER MUCH OF THE
CONUS THROUGH THE DAY THREE PERIOD. THE PRIMARY FEATURE OF INTEREST
APPEARS TO BE A VORTICITY MAXIMUM WHICH WILL TRANSLATE FROM THE SRN
ROCKIES EWD INTO THE GULF COAST STATES. LATEST MODEL GUIDANCE
INDICATES DIFFERENCES IN BOTH THE INTENSITY AND THE RATE OF EWD
PROGRESSION OF THIS FEATURE. THE NAM IS THE OUTLIER...SUGGESTING A
MORE INTENSE AND SLOWER-MOVING SHORT WAVE TROUGH THAN THE
GFS...ECMWF AND MAJORITY OF SREF MEMBERS. WHILE BOTH THE GFS AND
ECMWF HAVE TRENDED TO A SLIGHTLY STRONGER SHORT WAVE TROUGH...THEY
STILL REMAIN MUCH MORE PROGRESSIVE THAN THE NAM.

AT THE SURFACE...COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH A LEAD SHORT WAVE TROUGH
LIFTING NEWD THROUGH THE LOWER GREAT LAKES WILL PROGRESS EWD THROUGH
THE OH VALLEY. THE SRN EXTENSION OF THIS BOUNDARY WILL EVENTUALLY
STALL /IN A MORE W-E ORIENTATION/ ACROSS THE GULF COAST STATES INTO
TX BEFORE LIFTING NWD DURING THE LATTER HALF OF THE PERIOD WITH
APPROACH OF SRN ROCKIES IMPULSE. HERE TOO...DIFFERENCES EXIST EVEN
BETWEEN THE GFS AND ECMWF WITH THE LATTER DEVELOPING A SURFACE WAVE
ON THE BOUNDARY OVER THE LOWER MS VALLEY WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

...SRN PLAINS TO CNTRL GULF STATES...

CLUSTERS OF TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO PERSIST THROUGH THE DAY ALONG AND
S OF STALLING FRONTAL ZONE OVER SRN PARTS OF AL/MS/LA. MIDLEVEL
LAPSE RATES WILL REMAIN WEAK...BUT THE COMBINATION OF 60+ F
DEWPOINTS AND DAYTIME HEATING WILL CONTRIBUTE TO POCKETS OF MODERATE
INSTABILITY. LOW-LEVEL WIND FIELDS WILL REMAIN RATHER WEAK THROUGH
THE DIURNAL HEATING CYCLE...THOUGH THE PRESENCE OF STRENGTHENING MID
AND HIGH-LEVEL FLOW WILL RESULT IN SUFFICIENT VERTICAL SHEAR FOR A
FEW STRONG/MARGINALLY SEVERE STORMS.

UPSTREAM OVER THE SRN PLAINS...AN EML WILL BE RENEWED IN ADVANCE OF
MIDLEVEL SYSTEM MOVING OUT OF THE SRN ROCKIES. THESE STEEP MIDLEVEL
LAPSE RATES WILL COINCIDE WITH RAPIDLY RETURNING LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE
THROUGH THE LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND CNTRL TX WITH AIR MASS
BECOMING MODERATELY UNSTABLE TO THE S OF RETREATING WARM FRONT.
INCREASED FORCING /DCVA/ ASSOCIATED WITH APPROACHING SHORT WAVE
TROUGH COUPLED WITH STRENGTHENING LOW-LEVEL WAA ARE EXPECTED TO
CONTRIBUTE TO SURFACE-BASED TSTM DEVELOPMENT BY AFTERNOON FROM
VICINITY OF DRYLINE EWD ALONG RETREATING WARM FRONT. ELEVATED TSTMS
WILL ALSO BECOME MORE WIDESPREAD WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON INTO WEDNESDAY
NIGHT NWD THROUGH THE RED RIVER VALLEY. VERTICAL SHEAR WILL BE
QUITE SUFFICIENT FOR SUPERCELLS IN BOTH THE SURFACE-BASED AND
ELEVATED STORM REGIMES.

TSTMS /SOME SEVERE/ WILL LIKELY SPREAD EWD INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY
OVERNIGHT ALONG STRENGTHENING...NOCTURNAL LLJ. SHOULD THE ECMWF
SOLUTION VERIFY /I.E. STRONGER SURFACE WAVE/...POTENTIAL WILL EXIST
FOR SUPERCELLS AND TORNADOES ALONG SURFACE LOW TRACK WHERE STRONG
LOW-LEVEL SHEAR WILL BE COLLOCATED WITH MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER
CONDITIONS.

DAY1SVR: Day 1 Convective Outlook

ACUS01 KWNS 230602
SWODY1
SPC AC 230559

DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1259 AM CDT MON MAR 23 2009

VALID 231200Z - 241200Z

...THERE IS A MDT RISK OF SVR TSTMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT
FROM NORTH CENTRAL-NERN OK INTO PARTS OF ERN KS...

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS SURROUNDING THE MDT RISK AREA
FROM N TX/OK THROUGH THE CENTRAL PLAINS/WRN MO TO SRN-SERN SD AND
SWRN MN...

...SYNOPSIS...
A DYNAMIC LARGE-SCALE PATTERN WILL EXIST OVER THE CENTRAL CONUS ON
DAY 1 AS AN INTENSE MID/UPPER-LEVEL LOW SHIFTS NEWD FROM THE CENTRAL
HIGH PLAINS INTO SD/NEB. AS THIS PROCESS OCCURS...SIGNIFICANT
HEIGHT FALLS/DYNAMIC FORCING FOR ASCENT WILL SPREAD ENEWD THROUGH
THE CENTRAL/SRN PLAINS...AND EVENTUALLY MORE NEWD THROUGH THE
DAKOTAS INTO UPPER MS VALLEY. STRONG WSWLY MID AND UPPER LEVEL FLOW
WILL SPREAD EWD INTO KS/SRN PLAINS BY THIS AFTERNOON...WITH A LEAD
MID LEVEL JETLET TRACKING NEWD ACROSS NRN KS/NEB WITH THE EJECTING
UPPER LOW.

IN THE LOW LEVELS...STRONG CYCLOGENESIS IS EXPECTED TO BE UNDERWAY
ACROSS NERN CO AT 12Z TODAY. THIS LOW SHOULD UNDERGO SOME DEEPENING
THIS MORNING AS IT TRACKS NEWD INTO CENTRAL NEB...AND THEN BEGIN TO
FILL FROM LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. THE LOW IS PROGGED TO
REACH SERN/ERN SD BY 12Z TUESDAY. A TRAILING COLD FRONT WILL MOVE
ENEWD ACROSS NEB/NRN KS DURING THE FIRST HALF OF THE PERIOD.
MEANWHILE...A DRY LINE WILL MIX EWD REACHING CENTRAL KS TO WRN OK BY
EARLY-MID AFTERNOON. THE AFOREMENTIONED COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ESEWD
ACROSS KS/SRN HIGH PLAINS FROM LATE AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT...AND
SHOULD EXTEND FROM WRN IA...WRN MO SWWD THROUGH CENTRAL OK TO SW TX
BY 12Z TUESDAY.

...NRN KS/NEB INTO MID MO VALLEY...
FORCING FOR ASCENT WILL SPREAD NEWD ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS
ATTENDANT TO A LEAD MID LEVEL IMPULSE ACCOMPANYING THE MID/UPPER
LEVEL LOW/TROUGH. SURFACE HEATING IS EXPECTED AHEAD OF THE COLD
FRONT ACROSS SWRN/SOUTH CENTRAL NEB THIS MORNING INTO THE EARLY
AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WILL BE MODEST /SURFACE
DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER 50S...THE SURFACE HEATING COMBINED WITH COLD
MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES/STEEP LAPSE RATES ATTENDANT TO THE UPPER LOW
WILL RESULT IN MLCAPE UP TO 500 J/KG. MODELS SUGGEST INITIAL
SURFACE BASED STORMS SHOULD DEVELOP BY EARLY AFTERNOON ACROSS
CENTRAL/SRN NEB AND ADJACENT NRN KS ALONG TRACK OF THE SURFACE LOW.
THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD THEN SPREAD ENEWD INTO THE MID MO RIVER VALLEY
AS DEEP LAYER ASCENT WEAKENS THE CAP OVER THIS REGION AND THE COLD
FRONT PROGRESSES ENEWD OVERTAKING THE PRE-FRONTAL TROUGH/DRY LINE.

HAIL/DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE WEATHER THREATS
ACROSS THIS REGION. HOWEVER...THE SETUP WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR
LOW-TOPPED SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT ALONG TRACK OF SURFACE LOW WHERE
ISOLATED TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE. RAPIDLY BACKING DEEP-LAYER SHEAR
VECTORS WITH TIME ACROSS NEB INTO NRN KS SUGGESTS THAT STORMS MAY
EVOLVE INTO A LINEAR SYSTEM WITH THE THREAT FOR HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS CONTINUING EWD THROUGH THE MID AND LOWER MO VALLEYS MONDAY
NIGHT.

...CENTRAL KS/WRN MO SSWWD TO OK/RED RIVER VALLEY...
A CAP EXTENDING FROM CENTRAL/SRN KS SWD THROUGH THE RED RIVER VALLEY
IS EXPECTED TO LIMIT TSTM DEVELOPMENT UNTIL MID-LATE AFTERNOON.
INITIAL ACTIVITY SHOULD OCCUR ACROSS CENTRAL/SRN KS BETWEEN 21-00Z
AS THE COLD FRONT BEGINS TO MERGE WITH THE DRY LINE...AND FORCING
FOR ASCENT SPREADS EWD INTO SRN KS/OK ATTENDANT TO A SECOND LOBE OF
VORTICITY/FORCING FOR ASCENT WITHIN LEFT EXIT REGION OF MID/UPPER
LEVEL JETS. ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENT WILL TAKE PLACE WITH SWD EXTENT
INTO NRN OK BY 00Z AS THE COLD FRONT CONTINUES TO OVERTAKE THE DRY
LINE...WITH TSTMS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP INTO WRN MO MONDAY EVENING AND
SWD TO THE RED RIVER LATE IN THE PERIOD.

THE QUALITY OF MOISTURE RETURN...EVEN INTO THIS REGION...SHOULD
REMAIN MODEST WITH SURFACE DEWPOINTS EXPECTED TO BE IN THE MID-UPPER
50S. THIS COMBINED WITH SURFACE HEATING AND STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE
RATES REACHING THIS AREA BY LATE AFTERNOON WILL RESULT IN MLCAPE UP
TO 1000 J/KG FROM SRN KS INTO CENTRAL OK. THE ORIENTATION OF DEEP
LAYER SHEAR VECTORS MORE NORMAL TO THE SURFACE BOUNDARIES SUGGEST
THE POTENTIAL FOR BROKEN LINE SEGMENTS OR DISCRETE STORMS FROM THIS
AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT. STRONG FLOW ALOFT WILL PROMOTE FAST STORM
MOTIONS /NEWD AT 40-50 KT/. STRONG SLY LLJ /50+ KT/ EXTENDING NWD
FROM OK WITH FURTHER STRENGTHENING TONIGHT WILL PROMOTE LARGE CURVED
HODOGRAPHS AND SUPPORT A THREAT FOR TORNADOES...SOME STRONG /IN THE
MODERATE RISK AREA/. HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY
THE SEVERE THREAT ACROSS THIS PORTION OF THE SLIGHT RISK AND
MODERATE RISK AREAS.

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1227 AM CDT MON MAR 23 2009

VALID 241200Z - 251200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM ERN PARTS OF OK/TX INTO
THE LOWER MS VALLEY...

...SYNOPSIS...

MID/UPPER-LEVEL LOW INITIALLY OVER SD/NEB WILL EVOLVE INTO AN OPEN
WAVE TUESDAY AS NEXT UPSTREAM VORTICITY MAXIMUM/JET STREAK
TRANSLATES EWD THROUGH THE CNTRL/SRN PLAINS EVENTUALLY INTO THE MID
MS VALLEY. AS THIS OCCURS...BROADER-SCALE TROUGH WILL BECOME
NEGATIVELY-TILTED WITH THE MOST NOTABLE HEIGHT FALLS/DYNAMIC FORCING
FOR ASCENT SHIFTING EWD THROUGH THE MID/LOWER MO VALLEYS AND OZARK
PLATEAU INTO THE UPPER MIDWEST AND MID MS VALLEY.

AT THE SURFACE...OCCLUDED SURFACE LOW INITIALLY OVER ERN SD WILL
DEVELOP ENEWD THROUGH CNTRL MN...NWRN WI TO LAKE SUPERIOR. TRAILING
COLD FRONT WILL MOVE EWD/SEWD THROUGH THE PERIOD...LIKELY EXTENDING
FROM SURFACE LOW OVER CNTRL MN SWD THROUGH CNTRL MO AND THEN MORE
SSWWD THROUGH THE ARKLATEX INTO THE TX HILL COUNTRY BY 24/21Z. A
WEAK WARM OR MARINE FRONT WILL CONCURRENTLY LIFT NWD THROUGH THE
LOWER MS VALLEY IN ADVANCE OF THE COLD FRONT.

...ERN PARTS OF OK/TX INTO THE MIDDLE AND LOWER MS VALLEYS...

PERSISTENT LOW-LEVEL RIDGING ALONG THE E COAST /IN THE WAKE OF
DEEP-LAYER CYCLONE OVER THE WRN ATLANTIC/ WILL CONTINUE TO LIMIT THE
BREADTH OF PREFRONTAL WARM SECTOR...PARTICULARLY OVER THE MID MS
VALLEY INTO UPPER MIDWEST. FARTHER S...AIR MASS WILL CONTINUE TO
MODIFY OVER THE WRN GULF BASIN WITH DEWPOINTS GRADUALLY INCREASING
INTO THE 60S AHEAD OF COLD FRONT FROM ERN TX INTO THE LOWER MS
VALLEY. THIS MOISTURE WILL COINCIDE WITH MODESTLY STEEP MIDLEVEL
LAPSE RATES...CONTRIBUTING TO POCKETS OF MODERATE CONVECTIVE
INSTABILITY ACROSS THE SLIGHT RISK AREA WHERE MLCAPE MAY APPROACH
1000 J/KG. MORE WIDESPREAD CLOUDINESS AND DRIER BOUNDARY LAYER
CONDITIONS WILL LIMIT MLCAPE TO AOB 500 J/KG FROM THE OZARK PLATEAU
INTO MID MS VALLEY.

CLUSTERS OR A BROKEN LINE OF TSTMS WILL LIKELY BE ONGOING ALONG
FRONT TUESDAY MORNING FROM THE LOWER MO VALLEY INTO NRN TX. ZONE OF
DEEP ASCENT ASSOCIATED WITH SECONDARY VORTICITY MAXIMUM/JET STREAK
WILL GRADUALLY OVERSPREAD FRONTAL ZONE...CONTRIBUTING TO A STEADY
INCREASE IN STORM INTENSITY THROUGH THE DAY. DESPITE THIS INCREASED
FORCING AND VERY STRONG WIND FIELDS...THE DEGREE OF STORM
ORGANIZATION/SUSTENANCE REMAINS IN QUESTION OVER THE OZARK PLATEAU
INTO THE MID MS VALLEY DUE TO THE VERY MARGINAL INSTABILITY.
THEREFORE...ONLY LOW SEVERE PROBABILITIES WILL BE MAINTAINED IN THIS
FORECAST.

ONLY A GLANCING INFLUENCE OF ABOVE-MENTIONED SECONDARY IMPULSE WILL
RESULT IN LARGE-SCALE FORCING DECREASING WITH SWD EXTENT ACROSS THE
SLIGHT RISK AREA. NONETHELESS...CONVERGENCE ALONG THE FRONT AND A
GENERALLY WEAK CAP ACROSS PRE-FRONTAL WARM SECTOR SHOULD ALLOW FOR
VIGOROUS TSTM DEVELOPMENT BY AFTERNOON AS BOUNDARY LAYER
WARMS/DESTABILIZES. THE COMBINATION OF 50-60 KT SWLY MIDLEVEL FLOW
AND SRN EXTENSION OF 45-55 KT SLY LLJ WILL RESULT IN VERTICAL SHEAR
PROFILES MORE THAN SUFFICIENT FOR EMBEDDED SUPERCELL STRUCTURES.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND HAIL WILL BE THE PRIMARY SEVERE WEATHER
THREATS THOUGH TORNADOES ARE POSSIBLE WITH ANY MORE INTENSE AND
LONGER-LIVED SUPERCELLS THAT MAY DEVELOP.

...UPPER MS VALLEY...

PROVIDED SOME DIABATIC HEATING INVOF OCCLUDED SURFACE LOW...SETUP
WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOW-TOPPED TSTMS TUESDAY.
VERTICAL SHEAR WILL NOT BE STRONG OWING TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY TO
DEEP-LAYER LOW CENTER. HOWEVER...GIVEN THAT LAPSE RATES WILL BE
STEEP AND THERMODYNAMIC PROFILES RATHER COOL...ENVIRONMENT WILL BE
SUPPORTIVE OF HAIL WITH ANY MORE INTENSE TSTMS.
