AREAS AFFECTED...SRN PA...MD...DC...NRN AND ERN VA

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

VALID 272030Z - 272130Z

A FEW CLUSTERS OF INTENSE PULSE TO MARGINALLY ORGANIZED
MULTICELLULAR STORMS HAVE BEEN ON THE INCREASE ACROSS PARTS OF
SCNTRL PA AND ALONG THE HIGHER TERRAIN SWWD INTO NRN VA. SOME OF
THIS ACTIVITY MAY PERSIST AND SPREAD EAST INTO PORTIONS OF SERN
PA...NRN VA...AND MD THROUGH THIS EVENING POSING SOME THREAT OF
DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL. A WATCH IS POSSIBLE SHORTLY.

STRONG HEATING OF MOIST AIR MASS ACROSS NRN VA AND SRN PA WAS
CONTRIBUTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCALLY HIGH INSTABILITY THIS
AFTERNOON. WEAK UPSLOPE FLOW AND DIFFERENTIAL HEATING ON THE HIGHER
TERRAIN HAS AIDED ISOLATED INTENSE CONVECTION ALONG THE ERN
SLOPES/FOOTHILLS OF THE APPALACHIANS. ISOLATED WIND DAMAGE HAS
ALREADY BEEN REPORTED WITH THE CLUSTER OF STORMS IN VA. BAND OF
SLIGHTLY STRONGER MID LEVEL FLOW /20-30 KT AT 500 MB/...ALONG SRN
FRINGE OF STRONGER WLY FLOW ASSOCIATED WITH GREAT LAKES SHORT WAVE
TROUGH...MAY BEGIN TO SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION THROUGH THE EVENING.
THIS MIGHT RESULT IN 1) STRONGER EFFECTIVE SHEAR TO AID POTENTIAL
ORGANIZATION AND 2) STEERING FLOW TO AID IN MOVING STRONG STORMS EWD
TOWARD POTENTIALLY GREATER INSTABILITY IN THE LOWER SUSQUEHANNA AND
POTOMAC RIVER VALLEYS. THUS...A WATCH MAY BE COORDINATED ACROSS
PARTS OF THE REGION SHORTLY.

DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE UPPER OH
VALLEY...NY AND PA...

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PARTS OF MT...

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PARTS OF WRN NEB AND FAR
NE CO...

..UPPER OH VALLEY/NY/PA...
A WELL-DEFINED UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH OVER ONTARIO AND THE GREAT LAKES
WILL MOVE EWD AND APPROACH THE REGION THIS AFTERNOON. AT THE SFC...A
COLD FRONT IS MOVING SEWD ACROSS LOWER MICHIGAN...IND AND IL WITH A
STATIONARY FRONT EXTENDING EWD ACROSS NY. SOUTH AND EAST ACROSS THE
WARM SECTOR...SFC HEATING...LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE AND LARGE-SCALE
ASCENT ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPROACHING TROUGH WILL PROVIDE SUPPORT
FOR THE CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

CONCERNING THE SHEAR ENVIRONMENT...A 65 KT MID-LEVEL JET IS ANALYZED
BY THE RUC OVER THE GREAT LAKES REGION. THIS FEATURE IS CREATING
MODERATE VERTICAL SHEAR ACROSS THE NWRN PART OF THE SLIGHT RISK
AREA. AS A RESULT...A FEW SUPERCELLS MAY DEVELOP IN NY...NW PA AND
NRN OH. CONSIDERING THE LARGE NUMBER OF STORMS...MULTICELLS WILL
ALSO BE COMMON. AS THE JET OVER THE GREAT LAKES CONTINUES
EWD...VERTICAL SHEAR PROFILES ACROSS THE SERN PART OF THE SLIGHT
RISK AREA MAY BECOME STRONGER SUGGESTING THE SUPERCELL THREAT MAY
INCREASE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. IN ADDITION...THE STRONG LOW-LEVEL
FLOW AND VEERED LOW-LEVEL WIND PROFILES SUGGEST WIND DAMAGE WILL BE
POSSIBLE WITH THE STRONGER CELLS. ALTHOUGH MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES ARE
NOT THAT STEEP...500 MB TEMPS AROUND -12 C SHOULD BE COLD ENOUGH FOR
A MARGINAL HAIL THREAT ESPECIALLY WITH SUPERCELLS THAT DEVELOP.

..NRN ROCKIES/NRN HIGH PLAINS...
AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH NEAR THE WEST COAST WILL MOVE EWD INTO THE
PACIFIC NORTHWEST TODAY. AS A RESULT...LARGE-SCALE ASCENT WILL
INCREASE ACROSS THE NRN ROCKIES AND THIS COMBINED WITH SFC HEATING
SHOULD RESULT IN SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT BY LATE
AFTERNOON. AS THE TROUGH APPROACHES FROM THE WEST...VERTICAL SHEAR
PROFILES WILL BECOME STRONG OVER WRN AND CNTRL MT DUE TO A 50 KT
MID-LEVEL JET CURRENTLY ANALYZED OVER ERN ORE BY THE RUC. ALTHOUGH
INSTABILITY IS WEAK ATTM...CLEARING IS EVIDENT ON VISIBLE SATELLITE
IMAGERY ACROSS WCNTRL MT SUGGESTING DESTABILIZATION WILL CONTINUE
THIS AFTERNOON. THIS COMBINED WITH VERY STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES
ON FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOULD RESULT IN A THREAT FOR LARGE HAIL WITH
THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP IN AREAS WITH MAXIMIZED INSTABILITY. DUE
TO THE RELATIVELY WEAK INSTABILITY...ANY SEVERE THREAT THAT DEVELOPS
SHOULD BE CONCENTRATED NEAR PEAK HEATING.

..CNTRL HIGH PLAINS...
LATEST WATER VAPOR IMAGERY SHOWS A WLY FLOW PATTERN IN PLACE ACROSS
THE HIGH PLAINS WITH A SUBTLE UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE NRN HIGH
PLAINS. CURRENT RUC ANALYZES SEVERAL SMALL VORTICITY MAXIMUMS MOVING
EWD ACROSS NRN CO AND WRN NEB ATTM SUGGESTING A SUBTLE SHORTWAVE IS
PRESENT IN THE WLY FLOW. AT THE SFC...DEWPOINTS ACROSS MOST OF WRN
NEB AND FAR NERN CO ARE IN THE 50S F AND AN AXIS OF MODERATE
INSTABILITY IS LOCATED ACROSS THIS AREA. ALTHOUGH VERTICAL SHEAR
PROFILES ON REGIONAL WSR-88 VWPS APPEAR MARGINAL FOR
SUPERCELLS...THE LATEST PROFILER DATA FROM MCCOOK NEB SHOWS STRONG
VEERING WITH HEIGHT IN THE LOW TO MID-LEVELS. AS A RESULT...STORM
ORGANIZATION ACROSS THE INSTABILITY AXIS APPEARS LIKELY AND AN
ISOLATED SUPERCELL THREAT MAY DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON. STEEP
MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND THE INSTABILITY SUGGEST LARGE HAIL WILL BE
THE PRIMARY THREAT WITH THE ACTIVITY.

WIDELY SCATTERED STRONG TO ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS WITH HAIL AND
LANDSPOUT TORNADOES APPEAR POSSIBLE ACROSS A SMALL REGION OF THE
CNTRL HIGH PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON. CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THIS
ACTIVITY MAY REMAIN CONFINED TO A SMALL AREA AND A WATCH IS NOT
BEING PLANNED AT THIS TIME.

AS STRONG HEATING HAS OVERCOME CONVECTIVE INHIBITION...TCU/CB ARE
DEVELOPING RAPIDLY FROM THE PALMER DIVIDE NEWD ACROSS THE NERN
PLAINS OF CO ATTM. THIS DEVELOPMENT IS OCCURRING IN A REGION OF
STRONG DESTABILIZATION WHERE OBJECTIVE DATA INDICATES MLCAPE LOCALLY
GREATER THAN 1500 J/KG. OTHER UPDRAFTS APPEAR TO BE TAKING ROOT NEAR
DIFFERENTIAL HEATING/BACKDOOR OUTFLOW DRAPED ACROSS SWRN NEB. DENVER
CYCLONE AND LOW LEVEL UPSLOPE FLOW MAY AID ADDITIONAL STORMS ALONG
THE FRONT RANGE OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS WHERE DRIER LOW LEVEL AIR
MASS BUT STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES COULD SUPPORT BOTH GUSTY WINDS
AND SMALL HAIL.

WHILE ALL THIS ACTIVITY WILL CONTAIN SOME HAIL POTENTIAL... STORMS
OVER THE PLAINS WILL EXIST IN AN ENVIRONMENT CHARACTERIZED BY MODEST
TO STRONG LOW LEVEL CAPE...AND AMBIENT LOW LEVEL VORTICITY NEAR
VARIOUS WEAK BOUNDARIES. WIND PROFILES INDICATE WEAK WLY FLOW ALOFT
BUT SUFFICIENT DIRECTIONAL SHEAR IN THE UPDRAFT LAYER TO PROMOTE
UPDRAFT ROTATION AND PERHAPS A FEW LANDSPOUT TORNADOES. GREATER
INSTABILITY ACROSS THIS AREA WILL ALSO SUPPORT THE POTENTIAL FOR
LARGER HAIL.

GREATER SEVERE THREAT SHOULD REMAIN CONFINED TO A FEW COUNTIES GIVEN
WEAK LARGE SCALE FORCING/FLOW RESTRICTING A MORE PROLONGED/EXTENSIVE
REGION OF SEVERE RISK. THUS...A WATCH DOES NOT APPEAR WARRANTED AT
THIS TIME.

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE NRN AND
CNTRL PLAINS...

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PARTS OF WEST TX AND FAR
SE NM...

..NRN AND CNTRL PLAINS...
A WELL-DEVELOPED UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH NEAR THE WEST COAST WILL MOVE
ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST TONIGHT AND INTO THE NRN ROCKIES ON
MONDAY. AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING SYSTEM...LARGE-SCALE ASCENT WILL
INCREASE ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS MONDAY AS LIFT BECOMES ENHANCED DUE
TO A STRONG LOW-LEVEL JET. AT THE SFC...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE SEWD
INTO THE DAKOTAS AS A LOW ORGANIZES IN CNTRL SD DURING THE DAY.
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD INITIATE ALONG THE BOUNDARY BY LATE
AFTERNOON WITH MCS DEVELOPMENT LIKELY MONDAY EVENING. OTHER STORM
DEVELOPMENT SHOULD OCCUR SSWWD ALONG AN AXIS OF INSTABILITY IN WRN
NEB AND NERN CO DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON.

CONCERNING THE SEVERE THREAT...MODEL FORECASTS MOVE A 60-70 KT
MID-LEVEL JET OVER THE NRN ROCKIES EWD INTO THE HIGH PLAINS MONDAY.
THE EXIT REGION OF THIS JET WILL LIKELY SPREAD ACROSS THE DAKOTAS
MONDAY AFTERNOON ENHANCING LIFT AND INCREASING VERTICAL SHEAR ACROSS
THE REGION. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ALONG AND JUST SOUTHEAST OF THE
FRONT...SHOW MODERATE TO STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR WHICH WILL LIKELY
SUPPORT SCATTERED SEVERE STORMS. HOWEVER...THE TIMING OF INITIATION
STILL REMAINS QUESTIONABLE DUE TO A CAPPING INVERSION THAT WILL BE
IN PLACE. THE GFS SOLUTION SUGGESTS INITIATION WILL BE LATER AS THE
FORCING WITH THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH COMES OUT INTO THE PLAINS IN THE
EVENING. THE NAM AND NAMKF SOLUTIONS INITIATE STORMS SOONER. ONE
THING IS CERTAIN...THE ENVIRONMENT WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS
WITH LARGE HAIL ONCE INITIATION OCCURS. IN ADDITION...LOW-LEVEL
SHEAR PROFILES ON FORECAST SOUNDINGS ALSO APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES. THE GREATEST TORNADO THREAT SHOULD EXIST NORTHEAST OF THE
SFC LOW ACROSS NCNTRL SD AND ERN ND AS THE LOW-LEVEL JET INTENSIFIES
DURING THE EARLY EVENING. ALSO...VERTICAL SHEAR PROFILES SHOULD BE
SUPPORTIVE OF AN ISOLATED SEVERE THREAT SSWWD INTO WRN NEB AND FAR
NE CO. THE MOST LIKELY AREA FOR MCS DEVELOPMENT WILL BE ALONG THE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY IN THE EVENING DUE TO THE STRENGTHENING LOW-LEVEL
JET. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE SEVERE THREAT TO CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE
EVENING ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS REGION. AN UPGRADE TO MODERATE RISK
MAY BECOME NECESSARY IN LATER OUTLOOKS ONCE THE TIMING OF THE
UPPER-SYSTEM AND THUNDERSTORM INITIATION BECOMES MORE APPARENT.

..WEST TX...
AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH IS FORECAST TO BE IN PLACE MONDAY IN NRN AND
CNTRL TX WITH NWLY FLOW ACROSS WEST TX. AT THE SFC...AN AXIS OF
INSTABILITY SHOULD EXIST TO THE EAST OF A SFC TROUGH LOCATED IN ERN
NM. SFC DEWPOINTS IN THE 60S F AND DESTABILIZATION SHOULD RESULT IN
MODERATE INSTABILITY ACROSS MUCH OF WEST TX BY MONDAY AFTERNOON.
THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD INITIATE ALONG THE WRN EDGE OF THE MOIST AXIS
AND MOVE EWD INTO INCREASING INSTABILITY.

FORECAST SOUNDINGS LATE MONDAY AFTERNOON ALONG THE INSTABILITY AXIS
SHOW MODERATE VERTICAL SHEAR EXISTING FROM AROUND MIDLAND TX
EXTENDING SWD TO THE BIG BEND REGION. THIS IS DUE TO DIRECTIONAL
TURNING FROM THE LOW TO MID-LEVELS WHICH SHOULD BE SUPPORTIVE OF
STORM ORGANIZATION. SUPERCELLS WITH LARGE HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE DUE
TO THE STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND WHERE INSTABILITY IS LOCALLY
MAXIMIZED LATE MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE THREAT MAY CONTINUE INTO THE
EVENING ESPECIALLY IF AN MCS ORGANIZES AND MOVES EWD ACROSS THE
REGION.

..OH VALLEY/CNTRL APPALACHIAN MTNS...
AT UPPER-LEVELS...A TROUGH WILL MOVE EWD ACROSS THE NERN U.S. AS A
RIDGE BECOMES MORE ESTABLISHED ACROSS THE OH VALLEY AND GREAT LAKES
REGION. AT THE SFC...A COLD FRONT SHOULD BE LOCATED FROM KY
EXTENDING EWD INTO VA MONDAY. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS SHOULD
INITIATE ALONG THE BOUNDARY AND IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN DURING THE
AFTERNOON. ALTHOUGH FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOW WEAK VERTICAL SHEAR
PROFILES IN PLACE...POCKETS OF MODERATE INSTABILITY MAY DEVELOP
ALONG AND JUST SOUTH OF THE FRONT. THIS MAY RESULT IN A BRIEF WINDOW
FOR HAIL AND STRONG WIND GUSTS AS TEMPS MAX OUT IN THE LATE
AFTERNOON.

VALID 271712Z - 271845Z

ISOLATED TSTM INITIATION HAS COMMENCED ACROSS PARTS OF CNTRL NY AND
A GENERAL INCREASE IN SEVERE TSTM POTENTIAL IS EXPECTED OVER THE
NEXT HOUR OR TWO. A WATCH APPEARS POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE REGION
THIS AFTERNOON.

A FEW CELLS HAVE RECENTLY ERUPTED NEAR/ALONG MESOSCALE WARM FRONT
AND WEAK WIND SHIFTS SITUATED ACROSS SRN/CNTRL NY ATTM. DOUBLE WARM
FRONTAL STRUCTURE APPEARS IN RECENT MESOANALYSIS TO THE SE OF
LO...AND A WIND SHIFT/CONFLUENCE AXIS EXTENDS SOUTH OF A WEAK
SURFACE WAVE NEAR THE SRN SHORE OF LO. WIND SHIFT HAS BEEN SPREADING
EAST ACROSS THE SRN TIER AND EXTENDS SWD INTO PA. WITH AREAS OF
STRONGER SURFACE HEATING ELIMINATING REMAINING INHIBITION ACROSS THE
AREA...THESE WEAK MESOSCALE FEATURES WILL LIKELY AID ADDITIONAL TSTM
DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. OBSERVED AND MODEL SOUNDINGS
ACROSS THE REGION SHOW SOMEWHAT MARGINAL MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES THAT
ARE LIMITING GREATER CONVECTIVE INSTABILITY. HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL
MOIST ADVECTION AND STEEPENING LOW LEVEL LAPSE RATES SHOULD BOOST
INSTABILITY ENOUGH FOR AT LEAST A FEW ROBUST UPDRAFTS. CURRENT AND
FORECAST SHEAR ACROSS NY AND NRN PA WILL SUPPORT UPDRAFT
ORGANIZATION/PERSISTENCE WITH PRIMARY THREAT LIKELY COMING FROM
BOWING LINE SEGMENTS PRODUCING STRONG TO DAMAGING WINDS.

LARGER SCALE FORCING ASSOCIATED WITH THE UPPER TROUGH AND FRONT OVER
MI WILL ARRIVE ACROSS THE REGION MUCH LATER TODAY. BUT...WEAK MID
LEVEL HEIGHT FALLS AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM WILL CONTRIBUTE TO
STEEPENING MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES...AND RESULT IN A SUBSEQUENT
INCREASE IN INSTABILITY THROUGH LATE TODAY. THE REGION MAY
EXPERIENCE A COUPLE OF ROUNDS OF STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS AS INITIAL
ACTIVITY NEAR THE WARM FRONT AND WIND SHIFTS SPREADS EWD TOWARD THE
HUDSON VALLEY/NERN PA...AND PRE-FRONTAL ACTIVITY NOW DEVELOPING OVER
OH /REF. MCD 901/ MOVES EWD INTO PARTS OF NWRN PA AND WRN NY...WITH
ACCOMPANYING WIND DAMAGE THREAT...LATER THIS AFTERNOON.

TSTM HAVE RECENTLY ERUPTED ALONG WEAK LOW LEVEL CONFLUENCE AXIS/WIND
SHIFT ACROSS CNTRL OH. IT IS PSBL THAT THIS ACTIVITY MAY GO ON TO
PRODUCE ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED SEVERE/NEAR SEVERE WIND GUSTS
THIS AFTERNOON. A SEVERE TSTM WATCH APPEARS POSSIBLE IF STORMS
CONTINUE TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY.

SUBTLE WIND PRE-FRONTAL SHIFT ACROSS CNTRL OH APPEARS TO HAVE
CONTRIBUTED TO RECENT CONVECTIVE INITIATION WHERE WARM AND
INCREASINGLY UNSTABLE CONDITIONS EXIST BENEATH ABOUT 30KT OF WLY MID
LEVEL FLOW. ILN MORNING SOUNDING ADJUSTED FOR CURRENT SURFACE
CONDITIONS RESULTS IN MUCAPE AROUND 1500 J/KG AND NEARLY DRY
ADIABATIC LAPSE RATES THROUGH THE BOUNDARY LAYER. THIS ENVIRONMENT
IS FURTHER DEPICTED IN OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS OF DCAPE FIELDS WHICH
INDICATE CONDITIONS DOWNSTREAM FROM ONGOING STORMS COULD BEGIN TO
SUPPORT STRONG CONVECTIVE DOWNDRAFTS AS AFTERNOON HEATING CONTINUES.
MID LEVEL FLOW AND OVERALL FORCING APPEAR SOMEWHAT MARGINAL FOR A
MORE WIDESPREAD THREAT OF ORGANIZED STORMS. HOWEVER...IF THIS
ACTIVITY CONTINUES TO INCREASE...AND IT BEGINS TO APPEAR THAT A
GREATER WIND DAMAGE THREAT IS EVOLVING...A SEVERE TSTM WATCH IS
POSSIBLE.

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS OVER PARTS OF OH...PA...AND
NY...

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL
HIGH PLAINS...

..THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS OVER PARTS OF MT...

MORNING VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS STRONG SHORTWAVE TROUGH
MOVING EASTWARD ACROSS LAKE SUPERIOR...AND BAND OF STRONG MID/UPPER
LEVEL WINDS IN BASE OF TROUGH OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST. THIS FEATURE
IS FORECAST TO MOVE EASTWARD ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES REGION TODAY AND
INTO THE NORTHEAST TONIGHT. SURFACE COLD FRONT EXTENDS FROM LOWER
MI INTO IL WITH INCREASINGLY MOIST AND MODERATELY UNSTABLE AIR MASS
TO THE EAST OF BOUNDARY. BAND OF CLOUDS IS INHIBITING
HEATING/DESTABILIZATION AHEAD OF FRONT FROM NORTHERN IND/OH INTO
PARTS OF NY. HOWEVER...SOUTH AND EAST OF CLOUDS WILL SEE STRONG
SUNSHINE AND SCATTERED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS.

..NY/VT...
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP EARLY THIS AFTERNOON
IN REGION OF STRONGER DAYTIME HEATING AND MODERATE INSTABILITY OVER
CENTRAL NY. THESE STORMS WILL MOVE EASTWARD THROUGH THE AFTERNOON
INTO EASTERN NY AND WESTERN VT. BACK DOOR COLD FRONT EXTENDS
ROUGHLY FROM UCA - NYC AND WILL BE SLOW TO RETREAT NORTHEASTWARD.
THIS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN A RATHER NARROW ZONE OF STRONGER
INSTABILITY AND RISK OF MORE INTENSE UPDRAFTS OVER CENTRAL/EASTERN
NY. VERTICAL SHEAR PROFILES ACROSS THIS AREA WILL PROMOTE ORGANIZED
MULTICELL STORMS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS AND PERHAPS HAIL.

..PA/OH/MD/VA...
OTHER MORE ISOLATED STORMS ARE POSSIBLE FROM NORTHERN/CENTRAL PA
INTO EASTERN OH WHERE FULL SUNSHINE AND STRONGER INSTABILITY ARE
EXPECTED TODAY. OTHER STORMS MAY DEVELOP OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN
OVER MD/VA AND SPREAD EASTWARD THIS AFTERNOON. THIS REGION IS SOUTH
OF STRONGER LARGE SCALE FORCING AND WILL HAVE WEAKER WINDS ALOFT.
NEVERTHELESS...ISOLATED STORMS IN THIS REGION COULD POSE A THREAT OF
LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL.

..NEB/CO/KS...
WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS EVIDENT IN SATELLITE IMAGERY MOVING ACROSS
NORTHERN CO. THIS FEATURE WILL SPREAD INTO THE HIGH PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON. WEAK SURFACE BOUNDARY IS PRESENT FROM THE NEB PANHANDLE
SOUTHEASTWARD INTO NORTHERN KS. BACKED LOW LEVEL WINDS AND MORE
SUBSTANTIAL MOISTURE ALONG AND EAST OF BOUNDARY MAY AID IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON. VEERING WINDS
WITH HEIGHT AND STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES WOULD INDICATE A RISK OF
SUPERCELLS CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS...ALTHOUGH
CONVECTION WILL LIKELY REMAIN RATHER ISOLATED.

..MT...
WELL-DEFINED UPPER SYSTEM IS MOVING ACROSS WA/ORE THIS
MORNING...WITH STRONGER UPPER FORCING SPREADING INTO ID AND WESTERN
MT. AIR MASS IS QUITE DRY IN THIS REGION AND WILL ONLY BECOME
MARGINALLY UNSTABLE THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS WESTERN AND SOUTH CENTRAL
MT. HOWEVER...STRONG WINDS JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE AND STEEP LOW/MID
LEVEL LAPSE RATES MAY BE SUFFICIENT FOR A FEW SEVERE STORMS CAPABLE
OF DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL. TIMING OF UPPER FEATURE SUGGESTS
PRIMARY THREAT MAY BE THIS EVENING.
