DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1110 AM CDT THU AUG 07 2008

VALID 071630Z - 081200Z

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM THE CENTRAL GULF COASTAL
STATES EWD INTO THE CAROLINAS...

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF ERN NY AND
WRN NEW ENGLAND...

...CENTRAL GULF COASTAL STATES EWD TO THE CAROLINAS...
UPPER TROUGH AMPLIFYING OVER THE OH VALLEY EWD INTO THE NRN/CENTRAL
APPALACHIANS WILL RESULT IN SLOWLY STRENGTHENING MID/HIGH LEVEL
WINDS ALOFT ACROSS THE NRN GULF COASTAL STATES AND INTO THE
CAROLINAS. THIS WILL ALSO PUSH A WEAK SURFACE COLD FRONT SLOWLY SWD
INTO THIS REGION THIS AFTERNOON AND PROVIDE FOCUS FOR NUMEROUS
THUNDERSTORMS. DESPITE DEEP LAYER SHEAR AT ONLY 20-30 KT...STRONG
DAYTIME HEATING...DEWPOINTS IN THE 70S AND MLCAPE VALUES OF
2000-3000 J/KG WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE STORMS. SEVERE THREAT
WILL BE GREATER IN MORE ORGANIZED CLUSTERS...SUCH AS THE ONE
CURRENTLY LOCATED IN NRN AL...THAT DEVELOP COLD POOLS AND FORWARD
PROPAGATE. STORMS WILL LIKELY MERGE INTO SEVERAL STRONG STORM
CLUSTERS FROM MS EWD INTO THE CAROLINAS BY LATE AFTERNOON. VERY WEAK
SHEAR ACROSS THE SRN PORTIONS OF THE SLIGHT RISK AREA SHOULD RESULT
IN MORE DISORGANIZED AND PULSE-TYPE SEVERE STORMS. SINCE STORMS
WILL BE PRIMARILY THERMODYNAMICALLY DRIVEN...SURFACE COOLING AND
STORM OUTFLOWS SHOULD RESULT IN ALL STORMS TO DIMINISH RAPIDLY
AROUND SUNSET.

...ERN NY AND WRN NEW ENGLAND...
COLD MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES HAVE OVERSPREAD MUCH OF THE NERN STATES
THIS MORNING WITH 500MB TEMPS RANGING FROM -12 TO -16C. HEATING HAS
OCCURRED ACROSS PORTIONS OF THIS AREA THIS MORNING ...AND MLCAPES
SHOULD RANGE FROM 1000-1500 J/KG THIS AFTERNOON. WV IMAGERY SHOWS A
PRONOUNCED SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVING ENEWD FROM WRN PA/NY...AND SHOULD
PROVIDE FAVORABLE LIFT FOR SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS UNTIL EARLY
EVENING. DESPITE WEAK WINDS IN THE LOWER 2KM...20-30 KT MID LEVEL
FLOW...STEEP MID LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND MODERATE INSTABILITY SHOULD
SUPPORT A RISK OF HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS IN STRONGER CELLS.

..AZ...
SCATTERED TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO ONCE AGAIN DEVELOP WITH MOIST
MID/HIGH LEVEL FLOW LOCATED ACROSS THE REGION. RENEWED CONVECTIVE
DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON SHOULD FAVOR THE HIGHER TERRAIN...
WITH SOME STORMS MOVING SLOWLY WWD INTO THE VALLEY/DESERT AREAS BY
LATE AFTERNOON/EVENING. WEAK WINDS/SHEAR FAVOR DISORGANIZED AND SLOW
MOVING STORMS...THOUGH DEEP/WELL-MIXED SUB CLOUD LAYER AND
MODERATELY STRONG INSTABILITY MAY RESULT IN A FEW STORMS WITH
MARGINALLY SEVERE WIND GUSTS.

...NWRN CONUS...
WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS ARE ALREADY ONGOING ACROSS PORTIONS OF
OREGON/SERN WA...AHEAD OF A SHORTWAVE TROUGH MOVING NWD THROUGH NRN
CA. WITH WARMING...DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER MAY RESULT IN A FEW
STRONG WIND GUSTS DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 2043
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1034 AM CDT THU AUG 07 2008

AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF THE NRN MID ATLANTIC STATES INTO WRN NEW
ENGLAND

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

VALID 071534Z - 071730Z

AT LEAST A MARGINAL OR HIGHLY LOCALIZED SEVERE THREAT WILL EXIST
WITH DEVELOPING STORMS. IT IS NOT CLEAR THAT A WW WILL BE NEEDED
THIS AFTERNOON...BUT TRENDS WILL BE MONITORED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF
A MORE ORGANIZED SEVERE THREAT.

MOISTURE LEVELS ARE NOT PARTICULARLY HIGH...BUT A SEASONABLY COLD
MID-LEVEL ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATED WITH AMPLIFYING LARGE-SCALE UPPER
TROUGH IS ALLOWING FOR WEAK TO MODERATE BOUNDARY LAYER
DESTABILIZATION WITH SURFACE HEATING. COUPLED WITH BROAD LARGE-
SCALE FORCING FOR UPWARD VERTICAL MOTION ASSOCIATED WITH A SHORT
WAVE IMPULSE PROGRESSING THROUGH THE CYCLONIC FLOW REGIME...AN
INCREASE IN SCATTERED THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IS NOW ALREADY UNDERWAY
FROM THE LEE OF THE LOWER GREAT LAKES INTO THE HUDSON/CHAMPLAIN
VALLEY. THIS AREA IS MAINLY NORTH OF THE STRONGER FLOW ALOFT...AND
DEEP LAYER SHEAR IS MODEST AT BEST...BUT THERMODYNAMIC PROFILES
STILL APPEAR SUPPORTIVE OF MARGINALLY SEVERE HAIL. AND...A STEEPER
LOW-LEVEL LAPSE RATE ENVIRONMENT... DEVELOPING WITH STRONGER HEATING
NEAR SURFACE TROUGH FROM THE VICINITY OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY
THROUGH SOUTHWESTERN NEW ENGLAND...COULD BECOME FAVORABLE FOR
LOCALIZED DOWNBURSTS.

STORMS PROBABLY WILL CONTINUE TO GRADUALLY INTENSIFY AND INCREASE IN
NUMBER THROUGH THE EARLY/MID AFTERNOON HOURS. ITS POSSIBLE THAT AS
FORCING INCREASES THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...IN
SOMEWHAT CLOSER PROXIMITY TO THE STRONGER MID-LEVEL FLOW...AT LEAST
SHORT-LIVED MID-LEVEL UPDRAFT ROTATION IS POSSIBLE IN STRONGER
CELLS. HOWEVER...POTENTIAL AND FOCUS FOR AN ORGANIZED STORM CLUSTER
IS STILL UNCERTAIN. AND...ITS POSSIBLE THAT STORMS AND ANY
ASSOCIATED SEVERE THREATS MAY REMAIN RELATIVELY LOCALIZED.

URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH NUMBER 812
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1030 AM CDT THU AUG 7 2008

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ALABAMA
NORTHERN AND CENTRAL GEORGIA
EXTREME WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
EXTREME WESTERN SOUTH CAROLINA
FAR SRN MIDDLE AND ERN TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 1030 AM UNTIL
500 PM CDT.

HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60
STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES SOUTHWEST
OF HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA TO 10 MILES SOUTH SOUTHEAST OF ANDERSON
SOUTH CAROLINA. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE
ASSOCIATED WATCH OUTLINE UPDATE (WOUS64 KWNS WOU2).

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

DISCUSSION...CLUSTER OF STORMS MOVING ESEWD ACROSS SRN TN/FAR NWRN
AL ARE EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY AS THEY MOVE INTO A WARMING AND
DESTABILIZING AIR MASS. POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT OF A COLD POOL AND MID
LEVEL WLY WINDS INCREASING TO 30 KT SUGGESTS THAT WIND DAMAGE WILL
BE THE PRIMARY THREAT. ALSO...OTHER STORMS WITH SEVERE HAIL/WINDS
ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AS A COLD FRONT MOVES
SLOWLY SWD INTO THE REGION.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 550. MEAN STORM
MOTION VECTOR 29025.

MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 2042
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...PARTS OF NRN/CNTRL AL AND GA

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH LIKELY

VALID 071453Z - 071630Z

THE RISK FOR LOCALIZED DAMAGING DOWNBURSTS WILL EXIST AS STORMS
INCREASE ACROSS PARTS OF THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND THE GULF STATES
LATE THIS MORNING/AFTERNOON. TRENDS ARE BEING MONITORED FOR THE
POSSIBILITY OF A MORE ORGANIZED SEVERE THREAT AND THE POSSIBILITY OF
A WW.

A SMALL CLUSTER OF STORMS...NOW SPREADING INTO AREAS NEAR/NORTH OF
MUSCLE SHOALS/FLORENCE AL...APPEARS TO BE SUPPORTED BY AN AREA OF
STRONGER FORCING FOR UPWARD VERTICAL MOTION ON THE SOUTHERN FRINGE
OF THE LARGER SCALE TROUGH CURRENTLY AMPLIFYING ACROSS THE EASTERN
STATES. MODELS ARE SUGGESTIVE THAT THIS FORCING WILL CONTINUE EAST
SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH NORTHERN ALABAMA AND GEORGIA BETWEEN NOW AND
18-19Z. AS THIS OCCURS...COINCIDENT WITH STRONGER
HEATING/DESTABILIZATION OF A MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER...CHARACTERIZED BY
SURFACE DEW POINTS NEAR 70F...EXPANSION AND INTENSIFICATION OF THE
ONGOING STORM CLUSTER APPEARS PROBABLE INTO/THROUGH EARLY AFTERNOON.

MIXED LAYER CAPE ON THE ORDER OF 1000-2000 J/KG WILL PROMOTE
VIGOROUS UPDRAFTS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SMALL HAIL AND LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL IN THE PRESENCE OF HIGH PRECIPITABLE WATER. AND...THIS
WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY INCREASING POTENTIAL FOR A STRENGTHENING COLD
POOL. IF THIS OCCURS...20 KT DEEP LAYER WESTERLY MEAN FLOW ON THE
SOUTHERN FRINGE OF THE UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO MODERATE
FORWARD STORM PROPAGATION...ALONG WITH AN ENHANCED RISK FOR
POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS ALONG ITS GUST FRONT. THIS COULD AFFECT
PARTS OF THE ATLANTA METROPOLITAN AREA AS EARLY AS 18-20Z.

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS OVER PARTS OF PA/NY/NJ/CT/MA...

...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS FROM THE LOWER MS VALLEY INTO
THE CAROLINAS...

...LOWER MS VALLEY...SOUTHEAST STATES...CAROLINAS...
A LARGE UPPER RIDGE WILL REMAIN IN PLACE TODAY OVER THE ROCKIES AND
GREAT BASIN...WHILE AN UPPER TROUGH AMPLIFIES OVER THE EASTERN
STATES. THE STRENGTHENING EASTERN TROUGH WILL RESULT IN A SURFACE
COLD FRONT SURGING SOUTHWARD INTO THE SOUTHEAST STATES...PROVIDING
THE FOCUS FOR NUMEROUS AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS. EARLY VISIBLE
SATELLITE IMAGERY SUGGEST THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG DAYTIME
HEATING...WHICH COMBINED WITH DEWPOINTS NEAR 70F WILL CREATE A VERY
UNSTABLE AIRMASS /MLCAPE VALUES OF 2000-3000 J/KG/. INCREASING MID
LEVEL NORTHWESTERLY WINDS OF 25-40 KNOTS ACROSS THE REGION WILL
YIELD SUFFICIENT DEEP LAYER VERTICAL SHEAR FOR ORGANIZED MULTICELL
OR OCCASIONAL SUPERCELL STORMS CAPABLE OF DAMAGING WINDS AND HAIL.
STORMS WILL LIKELY MERGE INTO CLUSTERS FROM AR/LA INTO THE CAROLINAS
WITH A CONTINUING THREAT OF SCATTERED SEVERE ACTIVITY THROUGH THE
EARLY EVENING.

...NJ/PA/NY/MA/CT...
COLD MID LEVEL TEMPERATURES HAVE OVERSPREAD MUCH OF THE NORTHEAST
UNITED STATES THIS MORNING WITH 500MB TEMPS OF -12 TO -16 SHOWN ON
REGIONAL RAOB DATA. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY INDICATES THAT MOSTLY
CLEAR SKIES WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING OVER EASTERN NY/PA WHERE
TEMPERATURES SHOULD WARM INTO THE 70S AND LOWER 80S. RESIDUAL
DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER 60S WILL YIELD MLCAPE VALUES OF 1500-2000
J/KG BY EARLY/MID AFTERNOON. MOST OPERATIONAL AND MESOSCALE MODEL
MEMBERS SUGGEST THAT A CLUSTER OF STRONG/SEVERE STORMS WILL DEVELOP
TODAY OVER SOUTHEAST NY/NORTHEAST PA/NORTHERN NJ AND SPREAD EASTWARD
INTO SOUTHWEST NEW ENGLAND. LOW LEVEL VERTICAL SHEAR IS RATHER
WEAK. HOWEVER...SUFFICIENT MID LEVEL FLOW AND STEEP LAPSE RATES
WILL PROMOTE A RISK OF HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS IN STRONGER CELLS.
STORMS SHOULD DIMINISH QUICKLY AFTER SUNSET.

..AZ...
SCATTERED TSTMS MAY DEVELOP ACROSS THIS REGION DURING AFTERNOON
HOURS. ACTIVITY INITIALLY SHOULD FAVOR HIGHER TERRAIN...BUT SOME
TSTMS SHOULD MIGRATE OVER VALLEYS/DESERT AREAS LATE AFTERNOON. FCST
BUOYANCY APPEARS MRGL -- WITH WEAK MID-UPPER LAPSE RATES LIMITING
MLCAPES TO UNDER 1000 J/KG MOST AREAS. HOWEVER... DEEP/WELL-MIXED
SUBCLOUD LAYERS SHOULD SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR STG/ISOLATED SVR
GUSTS...PARTICULARLY IF STORMS CAN CONCENTRATE SUFFICIENTLY TO
DEVELOP AMALGAMATED OUTFLOW.

...NWRN CONUS...
WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM DURING AFTERNOON AS STG
HEATING CONTRIBUTES TO STEEPENING LOW-MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES...IN
ENVIRONMENT OF FAVORABLE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE OVER CASCADES. STG SWLY
FLOW ALOFT AHEAD OF PACIFIC TROUGH SHOULD ENCOURAGE MOTION OF THIS
ACTIVITY ACROSS DRIER AND MORE WELL-MIXED AIR MASS FATHER E...WITH
POTENTIAL FOR HAIL AND ISOLATED GUSTS NEAR SVR LEVELS.

MODERATE /25 TO 30 KT/ MID-LEVEL NWLYS EXPECTED ACROSS THIS REGION
-- IN THE MID-LEVEL HEIGHT GRADIENT BETWEEN THE ERN TROUGH AND

THAT MOST LIKELY WOULD BE TIED TO BOUNDARY INTERACTIONS.

...AR TO S-CENTRAL PLAINS...
FARTHER W...DEEP-LAYER FLOW IS EXPECTED TO WEAKEN STILL
FURTHER...LEADING TO PULSE AND DISORGANIZED MULTICELLULAR TSTM
MORPHOLOGIES. VERY RICH LOW LEVEL MOISTURE AND STG DIURNAL SFC
HEATING WILL COMBINE WITH LIFT INVOF FRONT TO WEAKEN
CAP...CONTRIBUTING TO DEVELOPMENT OF SCATTERED TO WIDELY SCATTERED
TSTMS MAINLY MID-LATE AFTERNOON. A FEW STG-SVR GUSTS CANNOT BE
RULED OUT FROM MOST INTENSE CELLS...HOWEVER...ORGANIZED SVR THREAT
APPEARS TOO MRGL FOR CATEGORICAL OUTLOOK ATTM.

...CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS...
SCATTERED-NUMEROUS TSTMS AGAIN SHOULD DEVELOP OVER PORTIONS CO/NM
AND PERHAPS WRN KS THIS AFTERNOON/EVENING...STRONGEST ACTIVITY BEING
NEAR AND N OF FRONTAL ZONE...AND E OF FRONT RANGE/SANGRE DE CRISTOS.
PERSISTENT/LARGE SHIELD OF CONVECTION OCCURRING ATTM ACROSS NERN CO
MAY RESULT IN CONVECTIVE OVERTURNED/STABILIZED AIR MASS FOR MUCH OF
UPCOMING DAY...AND CASTS CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY ON COVERAGE OVER
THAT AREA. HOWEVER...RESULTING MCV -- ALREADY EVIDENT IN
REFLECTIVITY ANIMATIONS JUST E DEN...MAY DRIFT SEWD TOWARD
RELATIVELY UNDISTURBED AIR MASS DURING AFTERNOON.
ALSO...DIFFERENTIAL HEATING/MOISTURE BOUNDARY SHOULD RESULT ACROSS
ERN CO...POTENTIALLY FOCUSING CONCENTRATION OF CONVECTION IN
ADDITION TO OROGRAPHIC ASCENT ZONES TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH
MOIST/ELY BOUNDARY LAYER WINDS. BETWEEN THESE FOCI AND OUTFLOW
BOUNDARIES...LARGE COVERAGE OF CONVECTION INDICATES THAT...EVEN IF
VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF TSTMS PRODUCE STG-SVR HAIL OR GUSTS...AT
LEAST MRGL SVR PROBABILITIES ARE WARRANTED.

...AZ...
HOWEVER...DEEP/WELL-MIXED
SUBCLOUD LAYERS SHOULD SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR STG/ISOLATED SVR
GUSTS...PARTICULARLY IF STORMS CAN CONCENTRATE SUFFICIENTLY TO
DEVELOP AMALGAMATED OUTFLOW.

...NWRN CONUS...
WIDELY SCATTERED TSTMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM DURING AFTERNOON AS STG
HEATING CONTRIBUTES TO STEEPENING LOW-MIDLEVEL LAPSE RATES...IN
ENVIRONMENT OF FAVORABLE LOW LEVEL MOISTURE OVER CASCADES. STG SWLY
FLOW ALOFT AHEAD OF PACIFIC TROUGH SHOULD ENCOURAGE MOTION OF THIS
ACTIVITY ACROSS DRIER AND MORE WELL-MIXED AIR MASS FATHER E...WITH
POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED GUSTS NEAR SVR LEVELS.

...NERN CONUS...
SCATTERED TSTMS ARE LIKELY ACROSS MUCH OF THIS REGION FROM LATE
MORNING INTO EARLY EVENING. WITH RELATIVELY COLD AIR ALOFT -- E.G.
500 MB TEMPS -14 TO -16 C -- ACTIVITY SHOULD BECOME STRONGEST AND
MOST CONCENTRATED OVER AREAS WHERE CLOUD BREAKS ALLOW MOST SUSTAINED
PRECONVECTIVE INSOLATION/HEATING. MID-UPPER LEVEL FLOW BECOMES MORE
DIFLUENT...BUT ALSO WEAKER...WITH NWD EXTENT ACROSS THIS
REGION...INDICATING POTENTIAL FOR GREATER CONCENTRATION OF
CLOUDS/PRECIP/CONVECTION TOWARD N BUT MORE POTENTIAL FOR SVR CLOSER
TO SRN NY...SRN NEW ENGLAND AND SWD THROUGH MID-ATLANTIC. SMALLER
AREA OF GREATER SVR PROBABILITIES MAY DEVELOP WITHIN BROAD 5-PERCENT
ZONE CURRENTLY OUTLOOKED...BUT MESOSCALE DEPENDENCY/UNCERTAINTY
PRECLUDES CATEGORICAL OUTLOOK ATTM.

DAY 2 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

VALID 081200Z - 091200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...SYNOPSIS...
AMPLIFIED MID-LEVEL PATTERN IS FORECAST TO PERSIST ACROSS THE CONUS
THIS PERIOD...WITH A SLOWLY-MOVING TROUGH INVOF THE W COAST...A
RIDGE OVER THE ROCKIES/CANADIAN PRAIRIE...AND A SECOND TROUGH OVER
THE EAST.

AT THE SURFACE...A COLD FRONT WILL LINGER FROM THE SOUTHEAST WWD
ACROSS THE GULF COAST STATES AND INTO TX. MEANWHILE...A SECOND COLD
FRONT SHOULD PROGRESS EWD ACROSS THE NWRN CONUS...WHILE A LEE TROUGH
PREVAILS ACROSS THE HIGH PLAINS.

...PAC NW INTO THE NRN PLAINS...
SEVERAL SMALL-SCALE FEATURES SHIFTING EWD ATOP THE MID-LEVEL RIDGE
OVER THE ROCKIES WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE BOTH MODERATE MID-LEVEL
WLYS AND SUPPORT -- IN THE FORM OF UVV -- FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
AFTERNOON/EVENING STORMS. CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT DURING THE DAY
SHOULD OCCUR MAINLY ACROSS THE ERN HALF OF WA AND OREGON AND EWD
INTO MT...WITH LATER DEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE INTO THE NRN HIGH PLAINS
-- WHICH COULD SPREAD EWD ACROSS THE DAKOTAS AS NOCTURNAL LOW-LEVEL
JET DEVELOPS. MODEST INSTABILITY COMBINED WITH RELATIVELY DEEP
MIXED LAYER SUGGESTS THE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED GUSTY/DAMAGING
WINDS...AIDED BY AMPLE SHEAR FOR SOME STORM ORGANIZATION.

...THE SOUTHEAST...
LINGERING FRONT OVER THE SOUTHEAST WILL AGAIN FOCUS CONVECTIVE
DEVELOPMENT...IN MOIST/UNSTABLE THERMODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT. ENHANCED
MID-LEVEL FLOW /20 TO 25 KT/ AROUND THE BASE OF THE MID-LEVEL TROUGH
WILL PROVIDE SUFFICIENT SHEAR FOR A FEW ORGANIZED/MULTICELL
CLUSTERS. ASSOCIATED THREAT FOR ISOLATED/MARGINAL HAIL AND/OR WIND
DAMAGE WARRANTS THE INCLUSION OF LOW SEVERE PROBABILITY THIS
FORECAST.

...ERN NEW ENGLAND...
MODELS HINT THAT AMPLE INSTABILITY COULD DEVELOP AHEAD OF A BROAD
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LINGERING OVER NEW ENGLAND TO SUPPORT STORM
DEVELOPMENT. SHOULD THIS OCCUR...IT APPEARS THAT SHEAR ACROSS FAR
ERN PORTIONS OF NEW ENGLAND -- ON ERN FRINGE OF THE UPPER TROUGH --
WOULD SUPPORT THE POTENTIAL FOR ORGANIZED/SEVERE STORMS.
ATTM...QUESTIONS REGARDING THE LOCATION OF THE SURFACE LOWS/TROUGH
ACROSS NEW ENGLAND AND ANY POTENTIAL FOR DESTABILIZATION REMAIN TOO
UNCERTAIN TO WARRANT THE INTRODUCTION OF ANY SEVERE PROBABILITY.
