THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

PART OF THE WESTERN UPPER PENINSULA MICHIGAN
NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN

EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 135 PM UNTIL 700
PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF
RHINELANDER WISCONSIN TO 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF IRON MOUNTAIN

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...PAIR OF SUPERCELLS HAS DEVELOPED QUICKLY THIS AFTERNOON
OVER N-CENTRAL WI. ACTIVITY WILL LIKELY CONTINUE TO BE FED BY VERY
UNSTABLE AIR TO THE SOUTHWEST...WITH FURTHER INSTABILITY LIKELY
AHEAD OF THESE STORMS INTO NERN WI REST OF THE AFTERNOON. STRONG
SHEAR AND COLLOCATION ALONG SURFACE WARM FRONT WILL INCREASE THE
RISK OF A FEW TORNADOES. VERY LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED WIND DAMAGE
ARE ALSO LIKELY WITH THESE STORMS.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 3 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
500. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 25025.
