DAY 4-8 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0305 AM CST WED JAN 23 2008
VALID 261200Z - 311200Z
THE LAST FEW RUNS...MEDIUM RANGE MODEL FORECASTS HAVE COME INTO MUCH
BETTER AGREEMENT FOR THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. THE MODELS
FORECAST AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE CNTRL US MOVING QUICKLY EWD
ACROSS THE APPALACHIANS BY MONDAY WITH A BROAD UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH
BECOMING ESTABLISHED IN THE ROCKIES AND PLAINS REGIONS. THIS PATTERN
WOULD LIKELY ENCOURAGE MOISTURE RETURN IN THE WRN GULF COAST STATES
MONDAY WITH THE MOIST AXIS MOVING EWD INTO THE LOWER MS VALLEY AND
TN VALLEY ON TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY. NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
POSSIBLE AS A COLD FRONT APPROACHES THE REGION. VERTICAL SHEAR
PROFILES ON FORECAST SOUNDINGS APPEAR ADEQUATE FOR ORGANIZED STORMS.
HOWEVER...IT REMAINS HIGHLY UNCERTAIN HOW MUCH INSTABILITY WILL BE
IN PLACE BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. FOR THIS REASON...AN OUTLOOK
AREA CAN NOT BE ISSUED AT THIS TIME.
