THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA
NORTHEASTERN SOUTH CAROLINA
COASTAL WATERS
EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY MORNING FROM 230 AM UNTIL 1100 AM EST.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 95 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF FLORENCE
SOUTH CAROLINA TO 65 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF CAPE HATTERAS NORTH

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

MOVING E INTO THE SC/NC CSTL PLN ATTM INVOF FLO/FAY. THIS ACTIVITY
MAY INCREASE IN STRENGTH AND COVERAGE AS IT ENCOUNTERS LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE AXIS ASSOCIATED WITH WELL-DEFINED SLY LLJ ORIENTED ROUGHLY
BETWEEN MYR AND HAT. GIVEN INTENSE LOW TO MID-LEVEL SPEED SHEAR AND
LIKELIHOOD FOR INCREASING LARGE SCALE ASCENT ASSOCIATED WITH
APPROACHING UPR TROUGH...THREAT WILL EXIST FOR SUSTAINED SUPERCELLS
WITH LOCALLY DAMAGING WIND AND TORNADOES.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 400.
