DAY 4-8 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0355 AM CDT FRI AUG 22 2008
VALID 251200Z - 301200Z
EARLY IN THE DAY 4 TO 8 PERIOD...AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE IS FORECAST BY
THE GFS AND ECMWF OVER THE ROCKIES AND PLAINS STATES. THIS FEATURE
IS FORECAST TO BREAK DOWN EARLY NEXT WEEK WITH AN UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH
MOVING EWD ACROSS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND NRN ROCKIES TUESDAY AND
WEDNESDAY/DAY 5 AND 6. IF THIS PATTERN COMES CLOSE TO VERIFYING...A
CHANCE OF SEVERE STORMS WOULD BE POSSIBLE IN PARTS OF THE CNTRL AND
NRN PLAINS AHEAD OF THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH DURING THE MID-WEEK
ASSUMING ENOUGH LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE CAN RETURN NWD INTO THE REGION.
HOWEVER...LARGE UNCERTAINTIES EXIST CONCERNING THE AMPLITUDE AND
TIMING OF THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH AND A SEVERE THREAT AREA CAN NOT BE
FORECAST ATTM.
..BROYLES.. 08/22/2008
