THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHWEST THROUGH NORTHEAST LOUISIANA
SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI
EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 620 AM UNTIL
100 PM CDT.
TORNADOES...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS
LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 40 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 60 MILES NORTH OF NATCHEZ
MISSISSIPPI TO 85 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF ALEXANDRIA LOUISIANA.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

WATCH NUMBER 884. WATCH NUMBER 884 WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AFTER
620 AM CDT.
DISCUSSION...CONVECTIVE RAINBANDS WILL CONTINUE DEVELOPING NEXT
SEVERAL HOURS FROM SW LA NEWD THROUGH WRN MS EAST OF THE CENTER OF
GUSTAVE THAT IS NEARLY STATIONARY. SHEAR PROFILES WITH LARGE LOW
LEVEL HODOGRAPHS WILL REMAIN SUPPORTIVE OF EMBEDDED SUPERCELLS WITH
ATTENDANT THREAT FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH EXTREME
TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI
WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 20035.
