DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0641 AM CST SAT JAN 24 2009

VALID 241300Z - 251200Z

...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...

...GREAT BASIN...
MORNING SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS A DEVELOPING BAROCLINIC LEAF OFF THE
CA COAST...IN ASSOCIATION WITH APPROACHING MID/UPPER LEVEL JET MAX.
THIS FEATURE WILL SPREAD INLAND TODAY RESULTING IN LARGE SCALE
FORCING FOR ASCENT ACROSS CA AND THE CENTRAL GREAT BASIN. MODEL
GUIDANCE AND CURRENT TRENDS SUGGEST THAT A COMBINATION OF DAYTIME
HEATING AND COOLING TEMPERATURES ALOFT WILL SUPPORT MARGINAL
INSTABILITY AND A RISK OF ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF
NV/UT.

ELSEWHERE ACROSS THE NATION...DRY/STABLE CONDITIONS WILL PRECLUDE
ORGANIZED THUNDERSTORMS TODAY.
