DR. WITH INTERMITTENT TOUCHDOWNS ALONG A 3 TO 4 MILE PATH
ALONG THIS LINE. PATH WIDTH ESTIMATED TO BE 50 TO 100
FEET WIDE. TREES DOWN ACROSS THE ROAD...ONE HOME
DAMAGED...AND ONE MOBILE HOME MOVED OFF ITS FOUNDATION.

EF0 - REPORTED BY THE WEATHER OBSERVER AT WARNER ROBINS
AFB. FUNNEL MOVED OVER RUNNWAYS AT WRB AFB AND THEN
DROPPED TO THE GROUND AND INTO THE TREES JUST OFF THE
RUNWAY. NO SPECIFIC DAMAGE PATH LENGTH OR WIDTH AVAILABLE
AT THIS TIME.

POSSIBLE TORNADO. SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE STARTING ON U.S. 441
AT MILE MARKER 2-3 AT TAPPIN SPUR ROAD. DAMAGE CONTINUES
EAST TO HALE ROAD AND COLHAM ROAD. TREES DOWN AND A
VEHICLE OVERTURNED. U.S. 441 WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED
BECAUSE OF DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES. SEVERAL HOMES
SUSTAINED MINOR ROOF DAMAGE. ONE MOBILE HOME MOVED FROM
ITS FOUNDATION. GEORGIA NATURE CENTER REPORTS HUNDREDS OF
TREES DOWN...TWO TENT AREAS DESTROYED...DAMAGE TO SOLAR
PANELS. DAMAGE PATH ESTIMATED TO BE 1/3 MILE WIDE.

EF4 - BEGAN IN TYRONE IN FAR SOUTHWEST PART OF THE COUNTY
AND CONTINUED ACROSS SOUTHERN WILKES INTO LINCOLN COUNTY.
THE TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 16 MILES
WITHIN WILKES COUNTY. MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH 1/2 MILE. A
CINDER BLOCK HOME WAS COMPLETELY DEMOLISHED AND THE
DEBRIS WAS BLOWN 1/2 MILE DOWNSTREAM. FIFTEEN OTHER HOMES
SUSTAINED MODERATE - MAJOR DAMAGE WITH 19 OUTBUILDINGS
DESTROYED. A COMMERCIAL CHICKEN HOUSE WAS DESTROYED...A

STEEPLE BLOWN OFF A CHURCH...AND A 2-TON TRUCK MOVED 60FT

*** 1 INJ *** EF1 - SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE FROM WILLARD TO
EATONTON ON A FIVE MILE LONG PATH. MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH 3/4
MILE. MAXIMUM WINDS ESTIMATED TO BE 110 MPH. ONE
RESTAURANT COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TWO OTHER BUILDINGS
DESTROYED. NUMEROUS TREES UPROOTED. AT LEAST ONE PERSON
INJURED FROM DEBRIS. SOME PEOPLE BRIEFLY TRAPPED IN CARS
AND HOMES. U.S. HIGHWAY 129 SOUTH OF EATONTON CLOSED FOR
SEVERAL HOURS BY DOWNED POWER LINES.

EF1 - BEGINNING ONE MILE WEST OF SMITHBORO ALONG GEORGIA
HIGHWAY 16...ENDING APPROXIMATLY TWO MILES EAST OF
SMITHBORO. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS 100 MPH. PATH LENGTH
APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES AND MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH 1/4 MILE.
DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES ALONG GEORGIA HIGHWAY 16 IN THE
SMITHBORO COMMUNITY, ONE WHICH SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE. A
SAW MILL WAREHOUSE WAS DESTROYED. A NUMBER OF POWER LINES
AND TREES DOWN IN THE AREA AS WELL.

EF1 - TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN AT KING BOSTWICK RD. AND
CHANNING COPE RD TRACKING APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO ABOUT
1/2 MI. SOUTHEAST OF THE INTERSECTION OF HENDERSON MILL
ROAD AND TAYLOR ROAD. PATH WIDTH ESTIMATED TO BE 100-200
YARDS WIDE. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO 20 TO 30 HOMES IN A
HEAVILY WOODED PINE COMMUNITY. DAMAGE WAS NEARLY 100
PERCENT CAUSED BY TREES DOWN ON HOMES.

WINDS - 100 MPH. PATH LENGTH APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES AND
MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH 1/4 MILE. MINOR DAMAGE TO FIVE HOMES
AND MAJOR DAMAGE TO A SMALL COTTAGE IN THE NORTHEAST PART
OF THE COUNTY. MORE THAN 100 TREES DOWN ALONG THE PATH.

EF2 - PATH OF DAMAGE SEVEN TO EIGHT MILES LONG BEGINNING
AT 923 BRADBERRY ROAD...APPROXIMATELY THREE MILES WEST OF
U.S. 27...THEN CONTINUED EAST-NORTHEAST ACROSS FAR
SOUTHERN COWETA COUNTY AND CONTINUED INTO SPALDING
COUNTY. PATH WIDTH UP TO ONE MILE WIDE. STRUCTURAL DAMAGE
TO AT LEAST A DOZEN HOMES...SOME SUBSTANTIAL. A ROOF WAS
ALSO BLOWN OFF A SCHOOL. A HORSE WAS KILLED BY FLYING
DEBRIS.

02/18/2009 F3 HANCOCK GA NWS STORM SURVEY

*** 1 FATAL, 3 INJ *** EF3 - TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN 5 ESE
MI. OF SPARTA AND CONTINUED TO INTO WARREN AND GLASCOCK
COUNTY...ENDING 6 MILES WNW OF GIBSON. TOTAL PATH LENGTH
8 MILES. MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH 500 YARDS WITH MAXIMUM
SUSTAINED WINDS OF 140 MPH. A CHURCH AND FOUR MOBILE
HOMES DESTROYED IN THE HICKORY GROVE COMMUNITY. ONE
FATALITY AND THREE INJURIES OCCURRED IN THE HICKORY GROVE
COMMUNITY. HUNDREDS OF TREES DOWN ALONG THE PATH OF THE
TORNADO.
