THROUGH THE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING...WITH SNOW RATES OF 2 IN/HR
POSSIBLE ACROSS LAKE/PORTER AND WESTERN LA PORTE/STARKE COUNTIES.
SATELLITE/RADAR IMAGERY REFLECTS INTENSIFYING BAND/S OF LAKE EFFECT
SNOW SPREADING INTO FAR NORTHWEST INDIANA EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. THIS
IS OCCURRING ALONG/AHEAD OF A SOUTH-SOUTHEAST ADVANCING LOW LEVEL
TROUGH/CYCLONICALLY CONVERGENT AXIS ANALYZED ACROSS LOWER
MI/SOUTHERN LAKE MI. SIMILAR TO OBSERVED LOW LEVEL WSR-88D VWP
TRENDS FROM KLOT...LATEST RUC GUIDANCE SUGGESTS NORTHERLY WINDS
AROUND 1 KM MAY INCREASE TO AS MUCH AS 35-40 KT THROUGH 00Z. THESE
STRENGTHENING LOW LEVEL TRAJECTORIES WILL ENHANCE THE OFF-LAKE
FETCH...ALTHOUGH THE MAGNITUDE OF THE WINDS MAY CONTINUE TO RESULT
IN SOME REDUCED RESIDENCE TIME/SPATIAL BAND DISRUPTION EVEN IN SPITE
OF GRADUALLY DIMINISHING DIRECTIONAL SHEAR THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.
AMPLE LAKE INDUCED CAPE /850 MB TEMPERATURES AROUND -15 C/ AND
NEARLY STEADY STATE INVERSION HEIGHTS /AROUND 2-2.5 KM/ WILL SUPPORT
SNOW RATES TO 2 IN/HR INTO EARLY EVENING.
