SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
NORTHEAST COLORADO
WESTERN NEBRASKA
EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 250 PM UNTIL 900
PM MDT.
HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 60 MILES NORTH
NORTHWEST OF MULLEN NEBRASKA TO 30 MILES WEST OF AKRON COLORADO.

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

DISCUSSION...STORMS WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE FROM SERN WY ACROSS
NERN CO AND INTO THE NEB PANHANDLE THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS. THIS
ACTIVITY WAS DEVELOPING WITHIN A MODESTLY UNSTABLE AIRMASS WHERE
EFFECTIVE DEEP-LAYER SHEAR AROUND 40KT WILL SUPPORT SUPERCELLS. LIFT
ACROSS THE REGION WILL BE ENHANCED/SUSTAINED BY SHORT WAVE TROUGH
DEVELOPING EAST FROM THE ROCKIES AND SHOULD CONTRIBUTE TO AN
INCREASING THREAT FOR LARGE HAIL AND HIGH WINDS.
