THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTHERN AND WESTERN LOUISIANA
SOUTHEAST TEXAS
COASTAL WATERS
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON FROM 555 AM UNTIL
100 PM CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 0.5 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 60 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES NORTH NORTHWEST OF
NATCHITOCHES LOUISIANA TO 45 MILES EAST OF GALVESTON TEXAS. FOR

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
DISCUSSION...TSTMS HAVE INCREASED IN THE PAST 1-2 HOURS OVER THE
NWRN GULF AND ADJACENT SE TX. THIS ACTIVITY IS FORMING IN VERY
MOIST AIR ALONG A WEAK NNW/SSE WARM FRONT...AND BENEATH BAND OF
ENHANCED MID LVL SW FLOW ASSOCIATED WITH REMNANTS OF FORMER T.C.
RICK /REF MCD 2122/. LOW-BASED STORMS SHOULD CONTINUE TO FORM IN
CONFLUENT LOW LVL FLOW INVOF OF THE FRONT AS IT MOVES SLOWLY EWD
THROUGH MIDDAY. AREA WIND PROFILES APPEAR SUPPORTIVE OF LOW LVL
ROTATION/TORNADOES...AND POSSIBLY LOCALLY DMGG WIND GUSTS.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 0.5 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 50 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
450. MEAN STORM MOTION VECTOR 19040.
