DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0647 AM CST TUE NOV 17 2009
VALID 171300Z - 181200Z
...NO SVR TSTM AREAS FORECAST...
...SYNOPSIS...
THE OCCLUDED AND TEMPORARILY CUTOFF LOW OVER AR/MO THIS MORNING WILL
DRIFT NEWD/NWD OVER MO THROUGH TONIGHT. MODEST LAPSE RATES
ACCOMPANYING THE MID LEVEL COLD POOL WILL CONTRIBUTE TO MINIMAL
ELEVATED INSTABILITY OVER THE LOWER OH VALLEY. HOWEVER...THE THREAT
FOR THUNDERSTORMS APPEARS INSUFFICIENT TO MAINTAIN AN OUTLOOK AREA.
ELSEWHERE...A STRONG MID LEVEL TROUGH AND STEEP LAPSE RATES WILL
CONTINUE TO SPREAD INLAND OVER THE PAC NW COAST THROUGH TONIGHT.
SATELLITE IMAGERY REVEALS AN EXTENSIVE AREA OF LOW-TOPPED CONVECTION
WITH THE MID LEVEL THERMAL TROUGH OFF THE WA COAST...WHERE ISOLATED
STRIKES HAVE BEEN NOTED IN OCEANIC LIGHTNING DATA. ISOLATED
THUNDERSTORMS MAY OCCUR WITHIN THE INITIAL BAROCLINIC BAND ALONG THE
WA COAST THIS MORNING...AND WITH THE MID LEVEL THERMAL TROUGH LATER
TODAY INTO TONIGHT.
