A STRONG TORNADO FORMED NEAR I-49 AND MOVED NE INTO
WHITEVILLE. SMALL CHURCH ON CINDER BLOCKS COMPLETELY
DESTROYED IN WHITEVILLE. SEVERAL TOMBSTONES DAMAGED. TWO
TRACTOR TRAILERS DAMAGED. ONE HAD A TREE LAND ON IT WITH
THE OTHER BLOWN BY THE TORNADO INTO A JACK-KNIFE POSITION
AND PUSHED INTO THE OTHER TRUCK. ONE RICE SILO FLIPPED 50
YDS INTO BAYOU. AT LEAST 2 MOBILE HOMES HAD ROOF DAMAGE.

SOUTH OF ATWOOD ACRES SUBDIVISION AND MOVED ACROSS
EASTERN HALF OF SUBDIVISION DAMAGING AT LEAST 20 HOMES.
WORST DAMAGE WAS A ONE STORY BRICK HOME THAT COMPLETELY
LOST ROOF. 4 FAMILY MEMBERS ESCAPED WITH CUTS AND
BRUISES. TORNADO ENDED NEAR HWY 98 AND CASANOVA RD. PATH
LENGTH OF 7 MI AND MAX WIDTH OF 100 YDS. ON GROUND FOR
APPX 9 MINUTES.

SOUTH OF HIGHWAY 29 ABOUT 1 MILE EAST OF THE KARO
COMMUNITY. NUMEROUS TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN OR DAMAGED
ALONG THE PATH WITH LITTLE OTHER DAMAGE NOTED IN THIS
SPARSELY POPULATED AREA. PATH LENGTH OF 5 MILES AND PATH
WIDTH OF 25 YARDS.

NUMEROUS TREES AND POWER LINES WERE BLOWN DOWN ALONG HWY
358 AND WAYNE RD. ONE BARN WAS DAMAGED ON WAYNE RD AND
DEBRIS FROM THE BARN WAS CARRIED ACROSS HWY 190. A
RESIDENT ON WAYNE RD WATCHED THE TORNADO CROSS HIS
CRAWFISH POND ACROSS THE STREET. PATH LENGTH OF 3 MILES
AND PATH WIDTH OF 25 YARDS.

TORNADO BEGAN ABOUT 4 MILES SOUTHWEST OF GUEYDAN THEN
MOVED NORTHEAST TO THE SOUTH OF GUEYDAN WHERE THE MOST
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE OCCURRED. THE TORNADO CONTINUED THROUGH
GUEYDAN AND EXITED THE TOWN NORTH OF THE WATER TOWER WITH
THE LAST DAMAGE NOTED ABOUT 2 MILES NORTHEAST OF GUEYDAN.
IN ALL ABOUT 50 STRUCTURES RECEIVED DAMAGE WITH 2
COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND 7 WITH MODERATE TO MAJOR DAMAGE.
PATH LENGTH OF 6 MILES WITH A PATH WIDTH FROM 40 TO 70
YARDS WIDE. INFO UPDATED FROM ADDITIONAL STORM SURVEYS.

NORTHEAST OF SAVOY AND MOVED NORTHWARD CROSSING INTO
SOUTHEASTERN EVANGELINE PARISH BEFORE DISSIPATING 2 MILES
SOUTHEAST OF CHATAIGNIER. AN OUTBUILDING WAS DAMAGED
SOUTH OF LINZAY ROAD WITH DEBRIS CARRIED ACROSS FIELDS TO
THE NORTHEAST. SEVERAL TREES WERE BLOWN DOWN OR UPROOTED
NORTH OF LINZAY ROAD AND ALONG HIGHWAY 95. WITNESSES IN
THE AREA OBSERVED THE TORNADO. PATH LENGTH OF 2 MILES AND
PATH WIDTH OF 25 YARDS.

ALONG BAYOU QUEUE DE TORTUE AND MOVED NORTHEAST BEFORE
ENDING SOUTH OF HWY 92 ABOUT 2 MILES EAST OF MORSE. ONE
HOUSE HAD MINOR DAMAGE ON KITE RD WITH TWO HOMES AND A
FARM RECEIVING MINOR TO MODERATE DAMAGE ALONG HWY 1115
BETWEEN LEBLANC ST AND BUTTERFLY RD. PATH LENGTH OF 3
MILES WITH A PATH WIDTH OF 75 YARDS.
