DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0658 PM CST FRI FEB 12 2010
VALID 130100Z - 131200Z
...NO TSTM AREAS FORECAST...
...SYNOPSIS...
UPPER AIR PATTERN ACROSS CONUS IS DOMINATED BY MEAN RIDGING OVER W
COAST STATES...BROAD BELT OF CYCLONIC FLOW FROM NRN HIGH PLAINS TO
NERN GULF AND FL...AND SEVERAL PROGRESSIVE/EMBEDDED SHORTWAVES.
PERTURBATION THAT HAD PRODUCED CONSIDERABLE LIGHTNING IN ITS TRACK
ACROSS N-CENTRAL/NERN PACIFIC HAS MOVED INLAND PAC NW AND BEGUN TO
DEAMPLIFY WITH INCREASING PROXIMITY TO SYNOPTIC-SCALE RIDGING. MAIN
BELT OF MID-UPPER ASCENT WITH SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS FCST TO PROGRESS
FARTHER INLAND OVER MORE STABLE AIR MASS. THEREFORE ALREADY MRGL
TSTM POTENTIAL HAS DIMINISHED ENOUGH THAT GEN THUNDER LINE CAN BE
REMOVED.
STG SHORTWAVE TROUGH -- NOW EVIDENT IN RAOB DATA AND SATELLITE
ANIMATIONS FROM SRN APPALACHIANS TO NERN GULF -- WILL PIVOT
NEWD...MOVE OFFSHORE FL/GA...AND DEAMPLIFY SOMEWHAT THROUGH
REMAINDER PERIOD...AS SECONDARY PERTURBATION DIGS SEWD FROM IL/ERN
MO ACROSS TN VALLEY. RELATED SFC CYCLONE IS CONSOLIDATING AGAIN
JUST OFFSHORE NERN FL NEAR BUOY 41012...AND SHOULD MOVE NEWD OVER
ATLANTIC TONIGHT WHILE FURTHER DEEPENING. TRAILING SFC COLD FRONT
WILL MOVE SEWD ACROSS CENTRAL/SRN FL PENINSULA...IN WAKE OF STG-SVR
PREFRONTAL SQUALL LINE THAT HAS JUST MOVED OVER NWRN BAHAMAS AND
OFFSHORE FL KEYS. ISOLATED THUNDER CANNOT BE RULED OUT IN
TRAILING/DEPARTING PRECIP REGION OVER KEYS FOR ANOTHER HOUR OR
SO...WITH LTG VISIBLE OFFSHORE TO E AND SE. HOWEVER...OVERALL TSTM
THREAT ALSO HAS DIMINISHED TOO MUCH TO KEEP GEN TSTM OUTLOOK THERE.
..EDWARDS.. 02/13/2010
