THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
EXTREME SOUTH CENTRAL VIRGINIA
EFFECTIVE THIS SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY MORNING FROM 740 PM UNTIL
100 AM EDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF
GREENSBORO NORTH CAROLINA TO 25 MILES NORTH NORTHEAST OF RALEIGH

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR

AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

NC INTO SRN VA THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT...AS STORMS CONTINUE TO FORM TO
THE SW AND MOVE NEWD ALONG THE BOUNDARY. THOUGH INSTABILITY IS
RELATIVELY WEAK TO THE NE OF SC...WEAK BUOYANCY AND SUFFICIENTLY
MOIST PROFILES WILL SUPPORT A GRADUAL NEWD SPREAD OF THE SEVERE
THREAT ACROSS NC TO SRN VA INTO TONIGHT. VERY STRONG LOW-LEVEL
SHEAR WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT A THREAT FOR TORNADOES WITH STORMS
ALONG THE BOUNDARY...ALONG WITH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
WIND GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO
