THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA
SOUTHWEST INTO PART OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT FROM 715 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 45 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 20 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF
CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA TO 40 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF LYNCHBURG
VIRGINIA. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION OF THE WATCH SEE THE

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR

DAMAGE THROUGH THE EVENING. SHOULD SURFACE DEW POINTS INCREASE OFF
THE ATLANTIC THROUGH THE EVENING AS LLJ STRENGTHENS EAST OF
WW...THREAT COULD SPREAD EWD INTO MORE OF CENTRAL NC/VA LATER THIS
EVENING.
