THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS
OF THE NORTHEAST US LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
CONNECTICUT
DELAWARE
MASSACHUSETTS
FAR SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
NEW JERSEY
SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK
EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA
RHODE ISLAND
ELSEWHERE...SEVERE STORMS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM...THE TENNESSEE
VALLEY NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE NORTH AND MIDDLE ATLANTIC STATES.
A DEEP LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM...CURRENTLY LOCATED IN WESTERN NEW
YORK...IS FORECAST TO SHIFT NORTHEASTWARD INTO MAINE BY LATE
AFTERNOON. A TRAILING COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP EASTWARD TO NEAR THE
ATLANTIC COAST BY EARLY EVENING. AHEAD OF THE LOW AND FRONT...A VERY
WARM AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR NUMEROUS SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS. ATMOSPHERIC WINDS ARE ALSO QUITE STRONG AND
SUPPORTIVE OF SUPERCELLS...WITH A POTENTIAL FOR A FEW STRONG
TORNADOES. ALSO...A THUNDERSTORM LINE OR TWO MAY ALSO DEVELOP ACROSS
THE REGION WITH A POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS. THE
GREATEST THREAT FOR THE MORE WIDESPREAD AND EXTREME SEVERE WEATHER
WILL EXIST BETWEEN NOON AND 9PM EDT.
STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS DEVELOPING
SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE
