RATHER BENIGN PATTERN ACROSS THE CONUS WITH A CONTINENTAL POLAR AIR
MASS AND RELATIVELY COOL/DRY OFFSHORE FLOW ACROSS THE ATLANTIC AND
GULF COASTS. SOME LOW-MIDLEVEL MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY REMAIN OVER
S FL...BUT THE PRIMARY WIND SHIFT AND FOCUS FOR DEEP CONVECTION WILL
REMAIN OVER THE FL STRAITS. OTHERWISE...A STRONG UPPER TROUGH WITH
500 MB TEMPERATURES AROUND -35C IS OVERSPREADING THE PAC NW. LOW
TOPPED CONVECTION IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MIDLEVEL COLD POOL AND
RELATIVELY STEEP LAPSE RATES...AND ISOLATED LIGHTNING STRIKES COULD
OCCUR TODAY ALONG THE WA/NW ORE COASTS.
