DAY 3 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0214 AM CST MON JAN 17 2011
VALID 191200Z - 201200Z
...DISCUSSION...
ERN U.S. SYNOPTIC TROUGH WILL UNDERGO TEMPORARY DEAMPLIFICATION
WEDNESDAY AS ANOTHER IN A SERIES OF SHORTWAVE TROUGHS CRESTS THE WRN
U.S. UPPER RIDGE AND AMPLIFIES SWD INTO THE SRN ROCKIES. AT THE
SURFACE A REINFORCING SURGE OF CP AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE N-CNTRL
THROUGH NERN GULF...BUT PARTIALLY MODIFIED GULF AIR WILL BEGIN
RETURNING THROUGH S TX AS SURFACE LOW DEVELOPS OVER THE SRN HIGH
PLAINS IN RESPONSE TO THE AMPLIFYING SHORTWAVE TROUGH. THIS INITIAL
RETURN OF MOISTURE WILL LIKELY BE INSUFFICIENT FOR ANY SUBSTANTIAL
DESTABILIZATION DUE TO EWD ADVECTION OF A WARM CAPPING LAYER ALOFT.
AS A RESULT...THUNDERSTORM PROSPECTS SHOULD REMAIN LOW DURING THE
DAY 3 PERIOD.
