SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
SOUTH CAROLINA
COASTAL WATERS
EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 155 PM UNTIL
900 PM EDT.
HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES EAST
NORTHEAST OF SPARTANBURG SOUTH CAROLINA TO 35 MILES SOUTH
SOUTHWEST OF CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA. FOR A COMPLETE DEPICTION

THIS AFTERNOON WITH MORE ROBUST AND ORGANIZED TSTMS LIKELY TO ENSUE.
DEEP-LAYER VERTICAL SHEAR ACROSS THE REGION IS ALREADY SUFFICIENTLY
STRONG TO SUPPORT SUPERCELLS AND FAST-MOVING LINE SEGMENTS CAPABLE
OF BOTH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.
