THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
EASTERN COLORADO
WESTERN KANSAS
FAR SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA
FAR NORTHEAST NEW MEXICO
THE WESTERN AND CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
THE NORTHERN TEXAS PANHANDLE
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING FROM 905 PM
UNTIL 400 AM MDT.
HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 70
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES NORTH OF
AKRON COLORADO TO 30 MILES SOUTHEAST OF DALHART TEXAS. FOR A

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

BUT THESE NEGATIVE FACTORS FOR CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT MAY BE OFFSET
BY LOW LVL MOISTURE DEPOSITED BY THE STORMS...AND BY THE CONTINUING
PRESENCE OF UPSLOPE COMPONENT TO THE FLOW. SETUP MAY YIELD A FEW
EMBEDDED SUSTAINED STORMS/ROTATING STRUCTURES CAPABLE OF DOWNWARD
MOMENTUM TRANSPORT/HIGH WIND...AND POSSIBLY A TORNADO...IN ADDITION
TO HAIL.
